HORSEMEN VS. DUSTY & MAGNUM & LAWLER & MORE: CLASSIC-ALL STAR WRESTLING EPISODE 2 REPORT

By Mike Johnson on 2021-02-18 22:55:00

The second episode of Jarrett/Parson's Classic All-Star Wrestling aired this week on NESN, featuring the following classic bouts:

*Rock N' Roll Express vs. The Nightmares with The Bee Keeper - This was a Memphis TV bout from WMC-TV with Lance Russell and Dave Brown on the call and I have to tell you how much it made me smile to hear those voices together again.  Robert Gibson was worked over for some time before Morton made the hot tag.  Very much a spotlight for The Express' big maneuvers.  The Bee Keeper got involved and ended up eating a double dropkick.  This allowed The Nightmares to use a chain on Morton and score the win.  This was from early 1985.

*Bad Pisol Pez Whatley vs. Chief Jerry Eagle - Whatley was an incredibly talented and underrated wrestler who was actually doing the Dropsault before Paul London by decades, although it didn't have that name.  This was from The Poffo family's ICW during the time period they were running opposition to Memphis,  Whatley was the heel here and looked strong, scoring the pin in about two minutes.

*Rip Rogers vs. George Wingeroff - This was from International All Star Wrestling ,.  Rogers came out to the Midnight Express' theme song "The Chase"  Wingeroff was noted as the only legally blind wrestler ever.  He attacked Rogers and worked him over.  Bob Orton Jr. was doing color commentary.  Wingeroff was the aggressor for most of this, including slamming Rogers on the floor.  Bob Orton declared he was trying to break Roger's neck or back for doing that.  Rogers kept kicking out.  Orton finally came to the ring and attacked Wingeroff, apparently having had too much of this beating.    Ronnie Garvin hit the ring and began brawling with Orton.    Orton and Rogers were tossed out.

*Ole & Arn Anderson & Tully Blanchard vs. Dusty Rhodes & Jerry Lawler & Magnum TA - This was from the Mid-South Coliseum in November 1985.  Everyone brawled all over ringside.  The crowd super into this.  The Horsemen were taken all sorts of big bumps from right hands and Bionic Elbows.  Magnum's right hands on Ole Anderson especially looked great.  Dusty was biting Arn's forehead on the floor.  Tully used a belt to lash away as the Horsemen got the advantage.  The Andersons double teamed Lawler in the corner.  Dusty finally scored the pin with a big elbow on Ole.  Just fun, fun, fun brawling from bell to bell.
