MUTOH TO IMPACT?, TETSUYA NAITO INJURED AND MORE FROM JAPAN

New Japan Pro Wrestling held its fourth Road to Castle Attack tour show in Korakuen Hall today.

The full results were:

• Great-O-Khan, Jeff Cobb and Will Ospreay def. Gabriel Kidd, Hiroshi Tanahashi and Hiroyoshi Tenzan
• Chase Owens, Jay White, Tama Tonga and Tanga Loa vs. Hirooki Goto, Tomohiro Ishii, Toru Yano and YOSHI-HASHI – No Contest
• BUSHI, Hiromu Takahashi and Shingo Takagi def. El Phantasmo, Taiji Ishimori and Yujiro Takahashi
• SANADA def. Yuji Nagata
• Kazuchika Okada and SHO def. Dick Togo and EVIL

Tetsuya Naito opened the show and revealed he would not be able to compete in the main event due to a right knee injury. He assured fans he would still challenge Kota Ibushi for the IWGP Intercontinental Championship at Castle Attack on February 28.

As a result of Naito’s injury, Ibushi was left off the card, SANADA and Yuji Nagata faced each other in a singles match and Dick Togo and EVIL versus Kazuchika Okada and SHO was moved to the main event.

New Japan has announced the cancellation of its Road to Castle Attack tour show on February 21 in Fukushima Toyota Crown Arena due to damage from the recent earthquake in Japan.

Big Japan Pro Wrestling

Big Japan Pro Wrestling has announced the full card for its show on March 16 in Shin-Kiba 1st Ring co-promoted with Big Japan Pro Wrestling.

The full card is:

• Hayato Tamura and Takafumi vs. Hideyoshi Kamitani and Kosuke Sato
• Kazuki Hashimoto and Takuya Nomura vs. Satsuki Nagao and Shoki Kitamura
• Abdullah Kobayashi, Jaki Numazawa and Kazumi Kikuta vs. Hartley Jackson, Ryuji Ito and Yuki Ishikawa
• Akira Hyodo and Yuji Okabayashi vs. Chris Vice and Yoshikazu Yokoyama
• Drew Parker and Masato Tanaka vs. Kota Sekifuda and Ryuichi Kawakami
• Daichi Hashimoto and Shinjiro Otani vs. Daisuke Sekimoto and Yuya Aoki

Big Japan has also announced the full cards for its two shows on April 17 in Yokohama Radiant Hall. The full cards are:

The match orders for both cards are not finalised. There will also be one more match added to the FRONT ROW card.

Pro Wrestling FREEDOMS

Takayuki Ueki will challenge Toru Sugiura for the King Of FREEDOM World Championship at Pro Wrestling FREEDOMS’ show on March 23 in Korakuen Hall.

The match will be Sugiura’s ninth defense of the title. Sugiura’s most recent defense was against Toshiyuki Sakuda on February 9 and Ueki challenged him afterwards.

Ueki has been quite a revelation since joining FREEDOMS last year. He was mostly a comedy wrestler beforehand but has quickly asserted himself as one of the best deathmatch wrestlers in FREEDOMS as a member of the Empire Ruler Ends faction with Masashi Takeda and Sakuda.

Pro Wrestling NOAH

Impact Wrestling co-executive vice president Scott D’Amore has teased the idea of Keiji Mutoh defending the GHC Heavyweight Championship against Joe Doering.

Mutoh’s last appearance in Impact was teaming with Tommy Dreamer against Johnny Impact (John Morrison) and Michael Elgin in June 2019. Mutoh wrestled under his Great Muta persona.

As D’Amore mentions in his tweet, Mutoh’s first GHC Heavyweight Championship defense will be against Kaito Kiyomiya at the Great Voyage 2021 in Fukuoka on March 14.

All Japan Pro Wrestling will hold its first Excite Series tour show in Shin-Kiba 1st Ring tomorrow.
