2/14 NJPW ROAD TO CASTLE ATTACK RESULTS FROM TOKYO, JAPAN

By James Kurokawa on 2021-02-14 17:48:00

2/14/21 Results of New Japan Road to Castle Attack from Korakuen Hall, Tokyo Japan:

Yuto Nakashima vs.  Yuya Uemura.  Nakashima is a young lion and this is his debut match on New Japan.   They began the match grappling.   As they were rolling on the mat, Nakashima tried to brace himself and Uemura came down with his full body weight on Nakashima’s left elbow.   Nakashima was on his back protecting his elbow, while Uemura was trying to wrestle.   The referee threw up the “X” with his arms and stopped the match immediately.  Nakashima was screaming in pain, perhaps out of anger as well, as it was his first match.

Uemura looked dejected and upset at all of this Medics ran to the ring to check on his condition and stabilize Nakashima”s arm.   Nakashima was able to stand but started shoving Uemura in anger.   Uemura did not retaliate.     Nakashima left the ring with visible anger on his face.   Uemura left the ring, turned and bowed to the ring (a sign of apology) which the crowd applauded for.

Note:  It was a complete accident.  From what I have seen, Uemura is a professional and would never intentionally injure another wrestler.  (Uemura was taking stiff shots from Minoru Suzuki for months, so he knows how to work.) Nakashima’s angry response to Uemura, while disrespectful and uncalled for, is also understandable.  In his first match, within 10 seconds, he is injured.   Nakashima should take this as a learning experience and realize accidents happen.

New Japan World cut to commercials as the timing of the show was now off track.

Jeff Cobb, The Great O-Khan and Will Ospreay, with Bea Priestley vs. Gabriel Kidd, Satoshi Kojima and Hiroshi Tanahashi  The United Empire has new green and gold ring gear.   The UE attacked their opponents at the bell.     Cobb pinned Kidd after a Tour of the Islands.  O-Khan hinted after the match that he could be coming for Tanahashi’s NEVER Openweight Championship.

El Phantasmo, Taiji Ishimori and Yujiro Takahashi vs. Shingo Takagi, BUSHI and Hiromu Takahashi.  ELP and Hiromu had a great battle for the first few minutes of the match.   Great stuff!  Takagi pinned Takahashi with Last of the Dragon.

SANADA and Tetsuya Naito vs. Yuji Nagata and Kota Ibushi.  SANADA pinned Nagata with a roll up and bridge.

Elimination Match:   Toru Yano, Tomohiro Ishii, YOSHI-HASHI, Hirooki Goto and Kazuchika Okada vs. Chase Owens, Tama Tonga, Tanga Loa, EVIL and Jay White, with Dick Togo, Jado and Gedo.  Chase Owens came to the ring wearing the Texas Heavyweight Championship and a leather strap.  Bullet Club attacks CHAOS when they enter the ring.     Owens attacks Yano and puts the leather strap on his wrist.  He attaches the other end of the strap to his wrist.   He starts whipping Yano in an impromptu leather strap match, within an Elimination Match.   Owens beats down Yano and tosses him over the top rope.  Yano is eliminated.  Yano pulls Owens over the top rope and to the floor by the leather strap.  Owens is eliminated.  Everyone else is fighting all over ringside.   EVIL and Okada get into the ring as the chaos settles.  Tanga Loa eliminates Jay White as White and Ishii both went over the top rope and were fighting on the ring apron.  Jay White eliminates Ishii by pulling him to the floor.  YOSHI-HASHI is eliminated after getting thrown over the top and then getting hit by Jado with the kendo stick.  Goto eliminates Tanga Loa over the top rope.  Tama Tonga eliminates Goto over the top.  EVIL collides with Tama Tonga and sends Tama over the top and eliminates him.  Only Okada and EVIL are left.     EVIL distracts the referee while Togo chokes out Okada.     EVIL eliminates Okada over the top.  EVIL gets the win for Bullet Club.  Okada is angry and tries to go after EVIL who runs away laughing.
