MLW Middleweight Champion Lio Rush defeated Laredo Kid to win the AAA Cruiserweight Championship during last night's episode of MLW Fusion.
Announced for next week's MLW Filthy Island edition of Fusion, a takeoff of UFC's Fight Island with the storyline being that Tom Lawlor is presenting the show Dominic Garrini vs. "14-time Pacific Chamoion" Mauna Loa, Mil Muertes vs. Savio Vega in an Aztec Jungle Fight, Low Ki vs. King Mo in a No Holds Barred Fight plus Rocky Romero appearing.
The storyline behind the Aztec Street Fight is that Salina de la Renta's benefactor (who has purchased her Promociones Dorado) sought to buy IWA Puerto Rico from Savio but was rebuffed, so as retribution Vega has been booked to face Muertes. The idea is that the benefactor is someone associated with the former Lucha Underground, a storyline that has been slowly building since last year.
The 3/3 edition of MLW TV will feature MLW Champion Jacob Fatu vs. Jordan Oliver plus MLW Tag Team Champions Los Parks vs. Daivari and Simon Gotch of CONTRA-Unit. This is easily Oliver's biggest opportunity as a singles performer in MLW. He recently worked the two hour Iron Man match at the GCW Fight Forever event a few weeks back, the longest singles match in modern history in the United States.
