New Japan Pro Wrestling held the first night of The New Beginning in Hiroshima today in Hiroshima Sun Plaza Hall.
The full results were:

• SANADA and Tetsuya Naito def. Kota Ibushi and Tomoaki Honma

• IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship: Hiromu Takahashi (c) vs. SHO
Tama Tonga and Tanga Loa made their first defense of the IWGP Tag Team Championships against Taichi and Zack Sabre Jr. via disqualification.
Hiromu Takahashi made his first defense of the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship against SHO. He was challenged by El Phantasmo after the match.
New Japan will hold the second night of The New Beginning in Hiroshima tomorrow in the same venue. The full card is:

Hirooki Goto, Tomohiro Ishii and YOSHI-HASHI will attempt their third defense of the NEVER Openweight 6-Man Tag Team Championships against Jay White, Tama Tonga and Tanga Loa.
Kota Ibushi will attempt his second defense of the IWGP Heavyweight Championship and IWGP Intercontinental Championship against SANADA.
Great-O-Khan challenged Hiroshi Tanahashi to a NEVER Openweight Championship match at Castle Attack in Osaka-j? Hall on either February 27 or 28 in an interview with Tokyo Sports.
Tanahashi defeated Shingo Takagi to win the NEVER Openweight Championship at The New Beginning in Nagoya on January 30 but was attacked by Great-O-Khan during his celebration, setting the stage for this match. Tanahashi also defeated Great-O-Khan in a singles match at the first night of Wrestle Kingdom 15 on January 4.
Should the match take place, it will be Tanahashi’s first defense of the title. Great-O-Khan’s interview with Tokyo Sports can be viewed here.
Speaking of interviews, New Japan has uploaded the forty-second edition of Tanahashi’s Ace’s HIGH autobiographical interview series. Topics discussed include Keiji Mutoh’s Tokyo Dome match against Ron Waterman, New Japan’s tour of Italy in 2005 and Davey Boy Smith Jr. wrestling in New Japan when he was only 19 years old.
