NEW JAPAN IN HIROSHIMA RESULTS, NEW PROMOTION ANNOUNCED, BIG JAPAN, DRAGON GATE AND MORE FROM JAPAN

New Japan Pro Wrestling held the first night of The New Beginning in Hiroshima today in Hiroshima Sun Plaza Hall.

The full results were:

• El Desperado, Minoru Suzuki and Yoshinobu Kanemaru def. Gabriel Kidd, Yota Tsuji and Yuya Uemura
• BUSHI def. Master Wato
• Hirooki Goto, Kazuchika Okada, Tomohiro Ishii, Toru Yano and YOSHI-HASHI def. El Phantasmo, EVIL, Jay White, Taiji Ishimori and Yujiro Takahashi
• SANADA and Tetsuya Naito def. Kota Ibushi and Tomoaki Honma
• IWGP Tag Team Championships: Tama Tonga and Tanga Loa (c) def. Taichi and Zack Sabre Jr. via DQ
• IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship: Hiromu Takahashi (c) vs. SHO

Tama Tonga and Tanga Loa made their first defense of the IWGP Tag Team Championships against Taichi and Zack Sabre Jr. via disqualification.

Hiromu Takahashi made his first defense of the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship against SHO. He was challenged by El Phantasmo after the match.

New Japan will hold the second night of The New Beginning in Hiroshima tomorrow in the same venue. The full card is:

Hirooki Goto, Tomohiro Ishii and YOSHI-HASHI will attempt their third defense of the NEVER Openweight 6-Man Tag Team Championships against Jay White, Tama Tonga and Tanga Loa.

Kota Ibushi will attempt his second defense of the IWGP Heavyweight Championship and IWGP Intercontinental Championship against SANADA.

Great-O-Khan challenged Hiroshi Tanahashi to a NEVER Openweight Championship match at Castle Attack in Osaka-j? Hall on either February 27 or 28 in an interview with Tokyo Sports.

Tanahashi defeated Shingo Takagi to win the NEVER Openweight Championship at The New Beginning in Nagoya on January 30 but was attacked by Great-O-Khan during his celebration, setting the stage for this match. Tanahashi also defeated Great-O-Khan in a singles match at the first night of Wrestle Kingdom 15 on January 4.

Should the match take place, it will be Tanahashi’s first defense of the title. Great-O-Khan’s interview with Tokyo Sports can be viewed here.

Speaking of interviews, New Japan has uploaded the forty-second edition of Tanahashi’s Ace’s HIGH autobiographical interview series. Topics discussed include Keiji Mutoh’s Tokyo Dome match against Ron Waterman, New Japan’s tour of Italy in 2005 and Davey Boy Smith Jr. wrestling in New Japan when he was only 19 years old.

Dragon Gate

Dragon Gate will hold its third Truth Gate 2021 tour show in Loisir Hotel Toyohashi tomorrow.

The full card is:

Kaito Ishida has been spending time training with K-1 fighter Hiroki in preparation from his Open the Dream Gate Championship match against Shun Skywalker on March 7. Hiroki will face Ryuka at K-1’s show in the Nippon Budokan on March 28.

Big Japan Pro Wrestling will hold its Power Station and 2YOUNG 2DIE shows in Yokohama Sambo Hall tomorrow.

Pro Wrestling FREEDOMS

Pro Wrestling FREEDOMS has announced two more matches for its February 21 show in 2AW Square co-promoted with Active Advance Pro Wrestling.

Ayumu Honda will face Takashi Sasaki in a singles match while Chicharito Shoki, Ricky Fuji and Shu Asakawa will face Dragon Libre, GENTARO and Yuya Susumu in a six-man tag team match.

The updated card is:

Colega Pro Wrestling aired its weekly Rising Night show on YouTube today.

CROWN

A new company called CROWN headed by SHINGO, SUGI and Towa Iwasaki has launched.

The company’s debut show – ONESTEPvol1 – will take place on February 28 in Kanzaki. Daisuke Sekimoto, Fuminori Abe, Kohei Sato, TARU and Yuko Miyamoto are among stars shown on the show’s poster.
