WWE RELEASE ANNOUNCED

By Mike Johnson on 2021-02-04 19:30:00

WWE announced the release of Steve Cutler this evening.

Cutler, 33, originally trained at The Monster Factory in New Jersey was signed in 2014 and mostly used as a tag team performer, initially with Buddy Murphy in NXT and then later as a member of The Forgotten Sons with Wesley Blake.  The team was re-titled the Knights of the Lone Wolf.

WWE's statement reads: "WWE has come to terms on the release of Steve Cutler. We wish him all the best in his future endeavors."

Whether this is the beginning of a new series of releases remains to be seen but there has been fear among some in the company (as Dave Scherer and I discussed on yesterday's edition of the We Don't Need No Stinkin' Name Show) that cuts were coming in the wake of today's WWE earnings release.

On Tuesday, PWInsider.com broke that Lars Sullivan departed the company quietly in late January.
