Christian's return to the ring was the first time since a March 2014 Monday Night Raw bout. It was also the first time he and Edge were in the ring together as competitors on a televised bout since a March 2011 Smackdown episode.
Seth Rollins commented on his WWE return,, writing, "Believe in me like I believe in you. We can be reborn together. #royalrumble @wwe"
