AKIYAMA INJURED, TENZAN UPDATE, DRAGON GATE AND MORE FROM JAPAN

Dragon Gate has announced the full cards for its first three Open the New Year Gate 2021 tour shows on January 9 in KBS Hall, January 10 in EDION Arena Osaka #2 and January 11 in Kuwana Yamamori Gymnasium.

The full cards are:

January 9 in KBS Hall
• Bokutimo Dragon, Punch Tominaga and Ryo Saito vs. Dragon Kid, Masato Yoshino and YAMATO

Pro Wrestling ZERO1

Pro Wrestling ZERO1 has announced the full card for its show in Shin-Kiba 1st Ring on January 14.

The full card is:

• Takumi Baba vs. Yuya Aoki
• Chris Vice vs. Ren Ayabe
• Andy Wu vs. Takuya Sugawara
• Masato Tanaka vs. Tatsuya Hanami
• Aja Kong and Satsuki Nagao vs. Hartley Jackson and Shoki Kitamura
• Intercontinental Tag Team Championships: Shinjiro Otani and Yumehito Imanari vs. El Lindman and T-Hawk

The main event will be Shinjiro Otani and Yumehito Imanari’s first defense of the Intercontinental Tag Team Championships.

DDT Pro-Wrestling

Jun Akiyama has suffered a left knee injury and will miss DDT Pro-Wrestling’s shows on January 9, January 11, January 17 (afternoon and evening) and January 23.

Akiyama is set to return on January 31, when he will team with Hikdeki Okatani against Nobuhiro Shimatani and Tetsuya Endo.

This is be a situation worth monitoring closely as Akiyama is set to challenge Endo for the KO-D Openweight Championship at Kawasaki Strong on February 14.

New Japan Pro Wrestling

New Japan Pro Wrestling has issued a medical update on Hiroyoshi Tenzan after he was taken out on a stretcher at yesterday’s New Year Dash show.

Tenzan suffered a neck injury which is not thought to be serious and he is expected to make a full recovery. He will undergo another thorough evaluation before returning to in-ring injury.
