12/11/20 - Tyrone, GA Watch on IWTV live
The second half of Action’s December double header has a spicy main event as Suge D is planning to take a LOT of pent up frustration out on Anthony Henry. Also, Jaden Newman needs to get a win back against Matt Sells that he claims he never happened. Dylan Hales and Johnny Mosley are on commentary.
Match 1: Adam Priest vs Shawn Dean
Adam Priest was on a tear in ACTION until he ran into Fred Yehi last month. Let’s see how he bounces back against Dean. Priest is in the face of the commentary team, probably because he thinks he got his shoulder up against Fred Yehi’s pin last month. Adam Priest says that every match he wrestles in ACTION until Fred Yehi comes back to face him will be done under protest, won’t count against his record and is just an exhibition. This match is KIND OF a loser’s bracket from the Action Futures Tournament, as Dean was never pinned in that triple threat by winner Nolan Edward. Dean starts strong, sending Priest to the outside but Priest crashes him into a cameraman and goes to work on the back and neck. Dean fires up off a ddt and gets a near fall on a step up powerbomb off the top. Priest stuns with an enziguri and rolls up Dean. The foot MAY HAVE been on the bottom rope but the ref misses it and counts the three.
Winner: Adam Priest
Good hard hitting opener. Adam Priest gets a cheap win....or maybe it isn’t one since this was just an exhibition. If only Fred Yehi would come back, maybe this win would count. Combined with Suge’s angle, I like this potential build into a Heels vs ACTION MANAGEMENT angle.
Match 2: Alex Kane vs “The Bone Collector” Dominic Garrini (w/ Kevin Ku)
Dom asked Kane for this match at the previous show “Bangers Only” after his original opponent, Lutha X, dropped off the card. Kane may not be 100% after having beaten Erron Wade earlier. Lot of technical scrambling to start, Dom looks surprised at how Kane is handling him through the early minutes. Dom finally wraps a guillotine but Kane plexes out of it. Kane is taking Garrini to Suplex Town for a few near falls. Trading angry Germans back and forth, Dom kicks at two and wraps a deep armbar but gets rolled out of it. Trading shots in the pocket, Dom with a falcon arrow for two. Kane. Drops the shoulder strap for a X-plex but Dom catches the pin attempt into a rear-naked choke that Kane eventually passes out to.
Winner: Dominic Garrini
Good aggressive technical contest for much of this. Kane was pretty dominant through much of this and was cruising towards an upset here. Dom showed that well of experience and wore the bigger man down. I like both of these guys. This was good. We get a Violence is Forever promo. Garrini says they are riding high on their singles victories tonight but they are coming back in January in tandem form and will accept any challenge from two wrestlers who wanna take them on.
Match 3: “The Heathen” Logan Creed vs Octavius Black
Both big men are testing each other to start. Octavius with a huge crossbody and scoop slam, leaves Creed gasping. Seated dropkick for two. Octavius working thee neck but walks into a pair of pump kicks. Curb stomp for two from Creed. Big uranage and senton for two back from Octavius. Creed trying to hit his finisher repeatedly but Octavius has some big power offense to answer. Creed Samoan drops Octavius out to the floor and topes after him. Back in the ring, Creed with a bulldog, chokeslam and a scorched earth facebuster for the pin.
Winner: Logan Creed
Creed spent more of this on the defensive, eating a lot of offense from Octavius Black before making his big comeback and putting his opponent down. I look forward to seeing more of Logan Creed but also, what story can be developed around this monster of a man.
Match 4: “Number One” Jaden Newman vs Matt “Sex” Sells
To put this bluntly, Matt Sells humped Newman’s face into the mat repeatedly last month and knocked him out. Newman claims to have no memory of this and is fighting to protect his name from such slander in this, the FIRST MATCH THEY’VE EVER HAD. But uh, I definitely watched that happen...
I SEEM to recall a match featuring @AllSellsFinal & @Jaden4Real. If Jaden doesn't remember, that is easily explained: pic.twitter.com/nX5O6ZbN9O

Yep.
So how does Newman fare this month? He bodyslams Sells and celebrates a LOT. Sells tries to catch him into the same hold that put him out last time but PTSD takes hold and Newman screams his way out. Maybe he does remember something... Newman trying to cut a few corners on his way to victory, choking, stomping, and biting Sells. Sells is limp as Newman wrap Sells into the same trap that put him out....but Sells quickly backs out of it while Newman humps the ring solo. Sells firing up, misses his palm strike but hits springboard stunner for two. Newman with a PK and powerbomb for another near fall. Newman misses a shot and Sells traps his head and starts humping him into the ring face first. Newman gets the ropes but is clearly dazed and groggy from the attack. Newman powders to recover and looks like he will make it back to the ring but faceplants at the 9 count. Ref calls for the bell at 10.??
Winner: Matt Sells (by countout)
I loved the narrative here, with Newman refusing to accept the reality of his, now TWO losses. Great storytelling in the action. This was fun. Newman screaming “I hate youuuu” at Sells as he heads to the back.
Main Event: Suge D vs Anthony Henry
We get a Suge D promo and Suge has some things to SAY about his upcoming match with Anthony Henry and his place in wrestling in general. Action was kind enough to post the unedited promo (which they insist do not reflect the views of them or IWTV):
ACTION Wrestling is giving space to @SugarDunkerton to air his thoughts.

I’ll wait while you watch that. Ok, cool? It’s a really good promo! Suge has a LOT of emotion riding on this one (and in general, with this current run in ACTION).
We have music playing but no one is coming out. Action owner Matt Griffin leads Suge D in from the front of the building. Suge grabs the mic to air some grievances about how this show isn’t being live streamed, about how they played the wrong music for his entrance, about how he’s even MORE upset about how Action doesn’t care about him and he’s fine to leave to the shocked silence of the crowd when he beats their indie darling. Anthony Henry looks confident in his entrance. Henry is trying to exploit Suge D’s injured ribs early, while also trying to lock up the arm and wrist. An angry Suge sticks and moves and throws some hands at Anthony Henry. Henry lands a stiff kick to the ribs that sends Suge screaming to the outside in pain. Henry breaking the count as he stalks Suge and lands shot after shot to the chest. Suge finally dodges a kick and Henry kicks the post. Suge swarms and starts hitting the leg and knee aggressively. Henry can’t walk as Suge goes to work on the limb, sinking in a deep crab while he punches at the leg. Springboard double stomp to Henry while he suspended in the ropes. Suge with a rear naked choke with a fishhook kicker. Henry is sick of the fishhook and tries breaking apart the fingers. Suge caught running with a powerslam but Henry’s leg won’t let him make the cover. Henry gets the wrist of Suge, tosses him about the ring and locks in a deep armbar. Suge makes the rope but damage is done. Henry with a series of kicks (with the good leg) make Suge gasp for air again. Suge with a half and half suplex and fireman’s carry slam for two. Suge drags Henry into a sort of cross face chicken wing but he gets the rope at the last possible second. Suge’s in disbelief and goes for a chair. Cabana Man Dan is at ringside to talk SUge down from using the chair. Suge swings at CMD and throws the chair at him at ringside. Henry uses the distraction to trap Suge arms and drop shots to the ribs until Suge can only submit.
Winner: Anthony Henry
Loved this. I like both these guys but Suge D has been telling a heck of a long-form story these past few months. Knowing that Suge walked into this with injured ribs, yowza. Heck of a hard-hitting but emotional main event. I look forward to what Suge has to say about it come next show and to see if he has earned himself a main event slot in Action that isn’t on the back of a higher profile indie darling. Or maybe he still has to keep taking that spot?
And that’s it for “Friday Night Fights III”! It may be a second card but FNF always feels like the big fight 3rd act, culminating offthe energy built off the previous show. Really good action built throughout the card here. An easy recommend. Catch it on IWTV VOD (Promo Code: ACTION).
