AEW DYNAMITE REPORT

It's Wednesday and you know what that means. 

This week is a special episode of AEW Dynamite that will pay tribute to Jon Huber, known in AEW as Brodie Lee.  Our announcers are Jim Ross, Excalibur, Tony Schiavone and Chris Jericho.  All story lines are on hold, and each match is a tribute to Huber.

We are still in Daily's Place in Jacksonville Florida and the show starts with the roster on the stage for the ten bell salute.  We then go to Jon Moxley with his memories of Brodie Lee.  I am not going to be recapping what they say on these tributes because there is no way I can capture the emotion of their love for their friend.

First out to the ring is Matt Hardy and Private Party.  We then see the past matches between the Private Party and the Young Bucks.  The Young Bucks are out next and they are joined by Colt Cabana which comes out with the Dark Order.

Matt Hardy and Private Party vs The Young Bucks and Colt Cabana

The match starts with Cabana and  Kassidy lock up, run the ropes and when Kassidy sets for a backdrop, Cabana stops and puts him in a headlock.  Kassidy escapes, takes a strike from Cabana and Quen tags in and walks into a drop toe hold. Cabana tags in Nick and the Buck gone in and all six men are in the ring.  Private Party and Hardy are outside the ring, the Bucks split the uprights, and Cabana follows with a moonsault off the second rope to the floor.

Everyone back in the ring and Nick takes a clothesline from Hardy in his corner and Hardy puts the foot to Nick's face.  Hardy puts Nick in a sleeper hold.  And then tosses him to the mat. They work to the corner where Matt is tagged in.  Time for a series of quick moves by the Bucks and Hardy is able to get away and tag in Quen tags in and takes kicks from the Bucks, Kassidy gets on the apron and takes kicks from the Bucks.  Hardy drags Matt out of the ring and he and Quen work him over.

Matt is rolled into the ring and Quen hits a suplex and covers for a two count.  Kassidy is tagged in and works over Matt. Hardy tags in and continues the assault, keeping Matt in their corner. Quen tags in and keeps Matt from tagging in with a hold and a drop kick,covering him for a two count.  Matt is taken back to their corner and Kassidy tags in.  He hits a backdrop and covers for a two count.  Hardy is tagged in and hits a leaping elbom, dropping Matt, and Hardy covers for a two count.

Matt tries to make it to his corner and is held off by Hardy.  Private Party tag in and hit a series of clotheslines in the corner.  Every time Hardy tries to get in, Matt gets his leg up for a kick to the face.  Hardy drops Matt and covers for a two count. Hardy hits a side effect for a two count.  Hardy takes a couple of blows from Nick and Cabana and takes a super kick.

Cabana is tagged in and Private Party comes in the ring to take a leaping flip from the second rope by Cabana. Cabana hits a flip flop and flies on Private Party and takes out Private Party, then hits the flying apple on Kassidy for a two count. Cabana goes to tag in Nick and Hardy pulls him off the apron.  Cabana is hit with a guillotine and a roll up crucifix for a tow count.

Hardy tags in and slams Cabana.  Hardy tells Private Party to climb up and Nick knocks Kassidy off the top and Matt is shoved into Quen by Cabana.  Nick comes in the ring and he and Cabana clean house.  Nick tags in and keeps up the pace.  Outside the ring, Hardy grabs Nick's foot, which draws Matt and Cabana to be tossed over the barricade one by one, and it's time for Young Bucks stuff. Nick goes to the top and Private Party has recovered to hit gin and juice, followed by Hardy hitting a twist of fate and a cover.  Kassidy hits a senton and Quen hits a moonsault for a two count, broken up by Matt.  Private Party is working over the Bucks and Hardy grabs a chair and offers it.

Private Party says no, and Cabana tags in to take out Hardy.  The final sequence shows Private Party starting to set up for gin and juice, but Cabana hits a Chicago skyline, the bucks hit an Indytaker and Cabana hits the Superman pin for the three count on Quen.

Your winners: Colt Cabana and the Young Bucks.

After the match the Acclaimed come out and say they have something to say about the Dark Order and SCU come out and toss them into the ring.  Cabana takes them out with a double bionic elbow.  

The announcers run down the card.

We go to commercials.

When we come back is Darby Allin's memories of Brodie Lee.

Next out are Evil Uno, Stu Grayson, who come out with the rest of the Dark Order, as well as Lance Archer and Jake Roberts. We get a recap of the issue between Archer and Eddie Kingston.  Eddie come out with Butcher, Blade and Bunny.  Eddie says that he loved Brodie but he will take out the Dark Order tonight.

Lance Archer, Stu Grayson and Evil Uno vs Eddie Kingston, Butcher and Blade.

The match starts with Uno and Kingston and Uno attacks Eddie and everyone is fighting as the bell rings.  Butcher and Blade are tossed from the ring and Archer drops Uno and Stu onto Eddie and then they suplex Archer onto Eddie.  Eddie is brought to the opposite corner to get worked on.  He and Stu run the ropes until Bunny grabs Stu's leg and it's time for Eddie, Butcher and Blade to take over.  

Butcher is tagged in and runs into the corner, tags in Blade who power slams Stu for a two count.  They run the ropes and Jake grabs Blade's leg, followed by Uno snapping his neck on the ropes and Stu gets to work, we go to picture in picture. Uno tags in and takes most of the attacks from Kingston's group on the small screen.

When we get back, Eddie and Uno are trading chops in the middle of the ring.  It then becomes slaps.  It ends with Uno hitting Eddie with a half and half.  They both struggle to get to their corner. Tags on both sides and Archer drops Butcher off the apron. Blade is in and Archer slams Blade, and then they work the corner with Archer running into Blade.  Archer walks the ropes and ends with a moonsault onto Blade.  Butcher comes in and they trade blows until Archer hits a shoulder tackle on Butcher.  

The match ended with Uno and Stu hitting the Fatality and pinning Blade.

Your winners:  Lance Archer, Evil Uno and Stu Grayson.

After the match, Eddie came in and took a blow from everyone, ending with Jake hitting a clothesline.

We then get a video of people talking about how much Brodie loves his wife and children with pictures of them.  I have to admit, this is a heartbreaking show and a beautiful tribute to a guy who seems universally loved and a devoted family man.  I'm not a guy who wants to know the behind the scenes stuff of people's personal lives, but he really sounds like his head was in the right place with putting his family front and center in his life.

We go to commercials.

When we come back it's Adam Page coming to the ring. He signals to end his music and the Dark Order comes out for Alex Reynolds and John Silver to join him. Next out is MJF, Santana and Ortiz with Wardlow. Jake Hager and Sammy Guevara are also at ringside. Dark Order throw their papers at the Inner Circle, a reference to a running gag Brodie had on Being the Elite.

We start with Page and MJF running the ropes and the sequence ends with Page throwing papers at MJF who rolls out of the ring.

MJF gets in the face of Brodie Lee's son.  

Ortiz tags in to face a tagged in Silver and they run the ropes, ending with a hip toss by Silver.  Santana tags in and hits a cross body off the ropes.  They work the ropes again and Reynolds tags in and hits a sunset flip for a one count.  He then hits a twisting elbow and covers for a one count. Santana recovers and hits a leaping neckbreaker and then two suplexes.  Ortiz tags in and covers for a two count.  MJF tags in and they work over Reynolds in the corner until MJF covers for a two count. 

After taking an elbow from Page in the corner, MJF deals with a newly tagged Page, who works him over.  Page sets up for the Buckshot lariat and MJF rolls out of the ring. Santana and Ortiz come in and they work with MJF to hit a triple team move and MJF covers Page for a two count.  The match goes to picture in picture.

Page is beat down on the small screen and when we come back, Page is able to get a boot to MJF's face and then crawls over for the tag to Silver.  Silver cleans house.  It ends with Silver hits a cross body on Santana and follows up with a sit-out power bomb.  Ortiz is up and gets a roll through cutter. Silver comes in and it's time for everyone to hit a move on a person as the come in one at a time.  Silver is then up and hits a Destroyer and then a Tope to the outside.  MJF hits a guillotine and then a heat seeker on Silver.  Ortiz hits a power bomb, Santana hits Silver in the facdf with a kick and Reynolds breaks up the cover at two.

Wardlow hits a clothesline on Reynolds, and Eric Rowan enters the ring and takes out Wardlow.  They fight to the back.  

The Dark Order and Page get a sequence of moves, and it ends with a cover by Silver on Santana. 

MJF puts his foot on the ropes and then starts yelling at Brodie Jr, He pulls off Brodie Jr's mask and Brodie Jr hits him with a kendo stick and Page leaps out of the ring onto him.  In the ring, Silver hits Ortiz with the discus lariat and a cover for the three count.

Your winners: Adam Page, John Silver and Alex Reynolds. 

After the match Rowan is back with the winners with a sign that says Goodbye for now, my brother., I'll see you down the road. 

Eddie's memories are next.

Next out are Anna Jay and Tay Conti and we go to commercial

We come back to Penelope Ford with Kip Sabian and Miro.  They are followed by Britt Baker and Rebel.

Anna Jay and Tay Conti vs Britt Baker and Penelope Ford

Anna and Baker start by tying up.  They work the mat and Baker gets a one count on Anna.  Anna works a headlock, but they go to the mat again and Britt gets a one count.  They run the ropes and when Anna goes for the queen slayer, Baker escapes and tags in Ford.  Tay tags in and they double-team Ford ending with Tay covering for a two count.  

Tay hits a series of throws while holding the wrist and gets a two count on Ford.  Baker hits a kick while the ref is distracted by Kip and Ford hits a German suplex and covers for a two count.  Then, she takes Tay to their cover and tags in Baker.  Baker hits a suplex and then rolls Tay out of the ring. Ford and Rebel hit a move on Tay, rolling her back in the ring for Baker to get a two count as we go to Picture in Picture.

Tay gets to be worked over on the small screen.

When we come back, Ford and Tay have taken each other out.  Tay crawls to the corner and tags in Anna as Ford is able to tag in Baker.  Anna is able to work over Baker and ends the sequence with Ford coming in to hit a tailbone buster.  Tay comes in and takes out Ford with a spinning slam.  Baker hits a sling blade on Anna and Anna is able to recover and hit a Jay Kick on Baker.  As she is celebrating, Baker hits a fisherman's neck breaker and covers Anna for a two count.

Baker tags in Ford who cover in with a leaping neck breaker and a two count. Ford goes for a springboard when Anna grabs her and locks in the Queen slayer.  Baker looks to come in and Tay cuts her off and they fight into the floor. Ford taps out to the Queen Slayer.

Your winners: Anna Jay and Tay Conti

Baker calls for Tony to come to the ring and after Anna and Tay leave the ring, Baker gets into the ring and Tony asks what is on her mind.  Baker is sick of the conspiracy and she lost because it was rigged. She says the whole thing was a Big Rig (one of Brodie Lee's nicknames)  Thunder Rosa attack Baker and the refs came out to pull them apart.

We get a run down of next week's show, the first night of New Year's Smash. They follow with the run down of the second night of New Year's Smash for two weeks.

We then get Jericho's memories of working with Brodie Lee.  

Back in the ring is the Brodie Lee Jr 6 man Dream Match, with Brodie's son's favorite wrestlers.  First out are Team Taz, Brian Cage, Ricky Starks and Powerhouse Hobbs. We go to commercials. 

Team Taz vs Cody, Orange Cassidy and 10

 

We start with Cody and and Hobbs and Hobbs is able to toss Cody back when they lock up.  Starks tags in and Cody takes him down with a drop toe hold and then works him over in the corner.  Starks is able to turn the tide with a drop kick and a shoulder tackle. Cody is able to hit the drop uppercut while Starks is celebrating.  Cody tags in 10.  Hobbs hits a slap onto 10, allowing Starks to get in a cheap shot, but  fights his way out and then drops Starks with a shoulder tackle. 

10 is able to hit a casa dora from the ropes.  Hobbs tags in and Hobbs calls for Cassidy.  Cassidy tags in and Hobbs calls for the greco roman knuckle lock and Cassidy calls for the greco roman pockets.  Hobbs drops him with a strike as we go to picture in picture.  Cassidy gets to be worked over on the small screen and Team Taz tags in frequently.  We come back to Hobbs hitting a stalling suplex on Cassidy. Cage is tagged in and holds up Cassidy for the stalling suplex as well.  Starks tags in the do the same thing, and he's the one that Cassidy is able to reverse.  Cassidy crawls toward his corner and Cassidy is able to fight his way free and tags in Cody.

Cody gets to clean house on Starks.  Cody hits the spinning power slam and covers for a two count.  He tosses the belt to the crowd.  Hobbs is able to kick Cody when Cody is thrown into the rope. Cody and Starks collide and then struggle to get to their corners.  Cody tags in  who is able to attack Starks.  He ends it with a Brodie bomb on Starks.  He kicks Hobbs off the apron, and when he and Starks run the ropes, Starks spears 10 and covers for a two count, broken up by Cassidy. 

Starks picks up Cassidy who reverses the move into a DDT.  Hobbs comes in to nail Cassidy, Cody comes in and kicks Hobbs, Cage comes in and flatlines Cody, and  hits a pump kick on Cage. Starks is able to hit a DDT on 10 and covers for a two count.

Taz grabs a chair and Arn grabs one as well.  They face off on the ramp way as Cassidy hits an Orange Punch on Starks, Cody hits the crossroads on Starks and then 10 hits the spinebuster for the cover and the three count.

Afterward Team Taz and Hook start a beat down.  The lights go out and...

Darby Allin's music hits.  He comes from the back and walks to the ring with his skateboard and the lights go out...

It's time for the man called Sting and his snowstorm come from where Darby was.

Sting and Darby join 10, Cody and Cassidy as we go to commercial.

We come back to Cody in the ring where he gives his memories of Brodie. He brings the family and Brodie's son brings in his boots.  Tony Khan gives him the his father's AEW TNT championship belt and says he is champion for life.  

Tony introduces a video tribute to Brodie Lee to end the show.
