WHEN OMEGA ATTACKS: COMPLETE IMPACT WRESTLING ON AXS TV COVERAGE

By Mike Johnson on 2020-12-15 20:02:00

Impact Wrestling opened with footage of Final Resolution as well as hints that AEW Champion Kenny Omega was coming for titles in Impact.

We went to Kaleb with a K in the ring.  He introduced Tenille  Dashwood.

Tenille Dashwood with Kaleb vs. Alisha Edwards with Eddie Edwards.

Edwards came out hot with a Thesz Press and nailed a series of rights.  She scored several near falls and nailed forearm smashes to the chest before nailing a head scissors takedown.  Dashwood cut her off and nailed a double underhook suplex for a two count.  Edwards was worked over in the corner.  Dashwood used the Dashwoogie and locked on a full nelson.  Alisha slipped out and used several elbows but was taken down.  Edwards was sent into the corner but elbowed Dashwood as she charged in.  Edwards nailed an elbow and a clothesline.  Dashwood was nailed with a bulldog for a two count when Kaleb pulled Dashwood out of the ring.  Eddie nailed Kaleb with a right.  Alisha went to the top but Dashwood sacrificed Kaleb, shoving him in front of her as Alisha came down.  Dashwood nailed the spotlight kick on Alisha as she returned to the ring and pinned her.

Your winner, Tenille Dashwood.

Sami Callihan hacked in and appeared on the screen.  He challenged Edwards to finally put their issues to the an end.  He told Edwards to enjoy the next few weeks to spend time with his family and enjoy the holidays, because they might be his last.  Edwards challenged Callihan and dared him to do it now, but there was no answer.

Josh Mathews and Madison Rayne reacted to what just happened.  They said AEW Champion Kenny Omega was here and would be paying close attention to Karl Anderson vs. Chris Sabin tonight.

Gia Miller interviewed The Motor City Machine Guns.  They had a three step plan.  They beat XXXL.  Then, they beat The North.  The next step is The Good Brothers.  They never pinned The Guns.  Gallows is injured.  Anderson is here and they are going to give him a preview of what it's like when they lose the titles in the future.

Back on Kenny Omega's bus, Omega and Callis were disgusted by what was said and riled up Anderson to go take out Sabin.

After a commercial, Anderson burst in the building and ran into Impact Champion Rich Swann.  Swann asked him where he was going.  He said he was going to KO Sabin.  Swann asked why, because Kenny told you too?  Anderson said that he gets to call him Kenny, but Swann has to call him champ.  The Guns showed up and Anderson said he's going to take care of this in the ring.  He walked off.  Swann said he went from Gunner to Jabberjaw.  I popped for THAT reference.  Sabin said he does his best fighting in the ring.

TNA Champion Moose came to the ring.  He said that Willie Mack hasn't been seen for a few weeks because he hurts people and that's what he does.  Moose said he did that without being angry, but what makes him angry is that with everything he's done, all people talk about is Rich Swann.  He respect Swann and is a great competitor but the difference is Swann stays hurt and Moose hurts people.  He told Swann to go ask Mack what pain feels like.  Mack came out and security held him back from coming to the ring.  Moose asked him if he really wanted to make Moose angry.  Mack said he's not mad at losing.  He's not mad at being on the shelf for a few weeks.  What he's mad about is a referee stopping the match and saying he's done when he knows he has fight left in his body.  He challenged Moose to an I Quit match at Genesis.  Moose said he doesn't think Mack is being smart.  Mack hit the ring and officials kept them apart.  Moose laid out security and walked out.

Backstage. Moose said he was tired of all the independent wrestlers trying to get opportunities as security, because one of them just ripped his shirt.  He said someone who can't last three minutes in the ring with him shouldn't be touching him.  If someone touches him, he will be hurting them.

Chris Bey arrived in Rohit Raju's locker room, mocking him for losing the X-Division title.  Raju said he's going to get his rematch at Hard to Kill.  Bey said if he wants to do it that way, Bey had a better idea, but forget it.  He began to walk off but Raju wanted to hear the idea.  Bey said that if you remove Manik's mask and prove he's TJP, they'll give him the title back and he won't even have to fight for the title.  Josh Mathews literally said it was Perkins on commentary this past weekend and if it didn't matter then, why would it matter now?  Bey said he's fighting Manik tonight, so that gives Raju a chance to unmask him.  They left together.

We returned with another paid ad from AEW with Tonys Khan and Schiavone.  Tony Schiavone said it was nice to be on cable access TV and we'll see the town hall meeting after.  He said Omega was doing all sort of free media for him just by being here and invited Callis to come to AEW tomorrow.  He said he would teach Callis something about pro wrestling.  Schiavone knocked Impact and AXS TV before running down the lineup for tomorrow's Dynamite.  If there was any doubt AEW is heeling Impact on their own TV show, Schiavone even mocked the idea they even had fans in the stand when they were TNA.

They aired an excellent Eric Young vignette, saying he learned his true purpose in Impact was to remove the sickness.  He's going to baptise Cody Deaner, who was handcuffed to a table like a criminal in an interrogation room, in "the waters of change."

Chris Bey with Rohit Raju vs. Impact Wrestling X-Division Champion Manik (non-title)

Bey went right at him but Manik caught him in a Torture Rack into a DDT attempt.  Manik was sent into the ropes but held on.  Bey charged and was sent to the floor as they went to commercial.  When they returned, Manik was in control but Bey was trying to battle back.  Bey finally drilled him with a flying elbow off the ropes on Manik, who was hanging off the ropes for a two count.  Bey nailed several kicks and forearms for a two count.  They battled back and forth until Manik went under the ring and emerged behind Bey, nailing a flying bodypress when Bey turned down around.  He nailed a series of knee strikes and hits a GTS.  Manik grabbed Bey who grabbed the referee, kicking a low blow when the referee couldn't see.  Raju hit the ring and wanted to unmask Manik but Bey began having words with him, asking what he was doing and asking him to leave the ring.  Raju finally nailed Bey, causing Manik to be DQ'd.

Your winner, by DQ, Chris Bey!

Bey was happy because the idea was if he got a win over Manik, he'd be in line for a title shot.

The Impact+ Flashback of the Week was Sting in action at Final Resolution 2006.

Backstage, Ethan Page apologized to Josh Alexander for losing over the weekend.  Alexander didn't want to hear this.  Page told him that Alexander needed to get help.  Page said that we will always have your back.  Alexander said, "We?"  Page said we and walked off.  Brian Myers heard this and pitched Alexander and he become a new team.  Alexander said he's already in a terrible mood and would rather kick Myers' ass, then walked off.

Back on Kenny Omega's bus, Karl Anderson was mad at Rich Swann disrespecting him.  Omega said he not in their league and was 'Rich the bitch."  Callis dared him to go take his name back.  Anderson said he knew they were trying to get him in the zone and he was going to get ready.  He left.  Omega said he wasn't going to get Swann make it about himself when he was on Omega's time and he wasn't going to be responsible for what happens.

Knockouts Tag Team Championship Tournament Semi-Final: Tasha Steelz and Kiera Hogan vs. Rosemary and Taya.

Taya and Steelz started and battled back and forth.  Taya had the control early but was kicked away during a charge into the corner.   She slammed Tasha down and brought her to the corner.  Rosemary and Taya tagged in and out, working over Steelz.  Hogan tagged in but was quickly snatched up into a sideslam and beat down with a series of punches.  Steelz and Hogan cut off Rosemary and worked her over for a long time, shining with their quick tags and offense.  Rosemary tried to fight her way out but was worked over.  She drove Steelz backwards into the corner and finally tossed her off.    Rosemary was caught with a shoulderblock but kicked off Steelz.

Taya got the hot tag and cleaned house, hitting a sit-down powerbomb for a two count.  Kimber Lee and Deonna Purrazzo came out and attacked Rosemary, knocking her off the apron.  Purrazzo nailed her with a Flatliner off the stage.  This left Taya left fighting the numbers, which eventually won.  Hogan nailed a KO kick to the head and hit a fisherman's suplex neckbreaker for the pin.

Your winners, advancing to the finals at the Hard to Kill PPV, Kiera Hogan and Tasha Steelz.

We went back to Eric Young and Cody Deaner.  Young told him the deeper truth was that professional wrestling was sick.  It was the disease.  Deaner gave wrestling everything and is waiting for it to give back.  A disease cannot provide.  It can only take.  Deaner said he couldn't see it for the parasite it was.  A jail cell opened and Joe Doering emerged.

The Hard to Kill PPV commercial was built around Rich Swann.

Backstage, Tasha and Kiera were in the locker room talking about losing their cash.  Johnny Swinger showed up and hit on them.  Disgusted, they left.  Swinger saw the blinded out fanny pack and said he was going to upgrade his own, revealing he had the cash that went missing at Final Resolution.

Josh Alexander vs. Brian Myers

Myers and Alexander battled back and forth.  No Ethan Page.  Myers controlled early with a series of knees to the back and a chinlock.  Alexander fired back and went for an underhook suplex.  Myers slipped out and nailed a back suplex.  Myers set up for a superkick when Page, in his alter ego, the Karate Man, lurked out from under the ring and attacked Myers.

Your winner by DQ, Brian Myers!

Page nailed a series of kicks.  Alexander stared at Page and told him he needed help, walking out and leaving him in the ring.

Back to Eric Young and Cody Deaner.  Young told Deaner the fans were laughing at him, not with him.  The idea was Deaner had been brainwashed by Young.  EY declared him baptized in the holy waters of change.  He said Cody was free.  Deaner, uncuffed, said he was free.

Backstage, Acey Romero approached Tommy Dreamer.  He told Dreamer that Larry D may be sitting in jail but he's been set up.  Dreamer told him every criminal says he's been set up but if Romero feels that way, go prove it.  Dreamer came across Rhino talking to Cousin Jake.  Jake said EY has warped Cody's mind.  Dreamer said that instead of crying about the partners that aren't here, why don't Rhino and Jake end this before it gets worse.

They announced the next two weeks will be the Impact holiday specials.

They announced Eddie Edwards vs. Sami Callihan will headline the 1/5/21 edition of Impact on AXS.

Chris Sabin vs. Karl Anderson

They had some good back and forth wrestling, feeling each other out early on.  They showed footage of Kenny Omega and Don Callis watching from his bus.  Anderson gained control and whipped Sabin hard into the buckles.  He measured and punched Sabin in the corner but Sabin fired back with right hands.    They battled to the outside, where Anderson caught Sabin and swept his legs, smashing him down to the ring apron.

After a commercial break, Anderson worked over Sabin and scored a two count following several punches.  Anderson controlled the ring and worked over Sabin's arm for a long time, wearing him down on the mat.  Sabin made a comeback and hit a tornado DDT.  They were both out after a double clothesline.  They fought to their feet.  They battled back and forth until Anderson hooked the tights and scored the pin.

Your winner, Karl Anderson!

As he left, Anderson was confronted by Swann on the stage.

On the bus, Callis told Omega that Swann was the champ and thinks sometimes he can do what he wants.  Omega said the champ can do what he wants, so watch the master at work and left the bus.  Callis was confused and followed.

Swann followed Anderson backstage and told him he didn't need to cheat like that.  Anderson heard enough and slugged him.  The Machine Guns tried to intercede but the returning Doc Gallows attacked them and laid them out.  Swann rose to his feet but Omega smashed him over the head with a plastic "wet floor - caution" sign.  He said perhaps it was time to reform the old Bullet Club gang.  He challenged Swann and the Guns to a six man tag and Callis, saying he was an EVP in Impact, made that match official at Hard to Kill.
