It will be NOAH’s first show in the arena since Kenta Kobashi’s retirement in 2013. Kobashi teamed with Jun Akiyama, Mutoh and Kensuke Sasaki against Shiozaki, KENTA, Maybach Taniguchi and Yoshinobu Kanemaru.
Mutoh, who turns 58 on December 23, has held the IWGP Heavyweight Championship and Triple Crown Heavyweight Championship but never the GHC Heavyweight Championship. The only two men to hold all three championships are Sasaki and Yoshihiro Takayama.
The full results from NOAH the BEST ~FINAL CHRONICLE 2020~ today were:
• Kinya Okada def. Yasutaka Yano
• Atsushi Kotoge, Daisuke Harada and Junta Miyawaki def. Haoh, Nioh and Tadasuke
• Katsuhiko Nakajima, Manabu Soya and Masa Kitamiya def. Hajime Ohara, Seiki Yoshioka and YO-HEY
• GHC Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championships: HAYATA and Yoshinari Ogawa (c) def. Kotaro Suzuki and Salvaje de Oriente
• GHC National Championship: Kenoh (c) def. Kazushi Sakuraba
• Daiki Inaba, Kaito Kiyomiya, Shuhei Taniguchi and Yoshiki Inamura def. Keiji Mutoh, Masakatsu Funaki, Naomichi Marufuji and Yuko Miyamoto
• GHC Heavyweight Championship: Go Shiozaki (c) def. Takashi Sugiura
Salvaje de Oriente betrayed Kotaro Suzuki during the fourth match and was later unmasked to reveal himself as Yuya Susumu. He aligned himself with HAYATA and Yoshinari Ogawa in Stinger and it seems he will be going by just Susumu in NOAH.
NOSAWA Rongai and his mystery masked partner came to the ring afterwards to once again offer Ogawa a handshake. Ogawa accepted but it was just a setup for an attack. Suzuki finally accepted Rongai’s help (although still looked very reluctant) and they left as a trio.
Kenoh made his third successful defense of the GHC National Championship against Kazushi Sakuraba.
Yoshiki Inamura pinned Yuko Miyamoto in the sixth match. This is a major development for Inamura as it was his first time defeating someone who is not also a young lion.
After making his sixth successful defense of the GHC Heavyweight Championship against Takashi Sugiura, Shiozaki was challenged by Mutoh.
