Major League Wrestling will officially relauch this Wednesday with the return of MLW Fusion, airing on Fubo TV and Pluto TV in advance of debuting on BeIN Sport and YouTube.
The relaunch episode was taped several weeks back in Orlando, Florida, featuring:
*MLW Champion Jacob Fatu vs. Davey Boy Smith Jr.
*MLW Middleweight Champion Myron Reed vs. Brian Pillman Jr.
*First details on the return of the Opera Cup.
In an interview with DAZN, Court Bauer noted that the Fatu vs. Smith match was originally envisioned to be the main event of a June MLW PPV that never happened due to the shut-down.
Additional by Oliver Taylor:
Major League Wrestling owner Court Bauer confirmed the original two-year contract Davey Boy Smith Jr. signed with the company will expire in December in an interview with WrestlingInc’s Raj Giri.
Smith Jr. will challenge Jacob Fatu for the MLW World Heavyweight Championship in the main event of the November 18 episode of MLW Fusion, but Bauer acknowledged the possibility of Smith Jr. signing elsewhere.
Bauer said, “His two-year deal with us is up this December and we’ve always had a great relationship. We’re on great terms now. ' said: ‘Listen, no one knows what’s ahead. If this is the end, go out hot. If it’s now a cliffhanger and you return, let’s see what happens. If you win the world title, well, that creates some interesting TV too.’ “We’ll have to wait and see what happens next week, but Davey’s a phenomenal talent, phenomenal guy.”
Smith Jr. first wrestled for MLW as an 18-year-old in 2004 teaming with TJ Wilson, better known as Tyson Kidd in WWE. He returned to the ring at the 2018 Battle Riot. He won the MLW World Tag Team Championships with Teddy Hart in 2019, unsuccessfully challenged Alexander Hammerstone for the MLW National Openweight Championship twice and won the 2019 Opera Cup.
