AEW will not have any additional PPVs added to their schedule currently. There will be a "Beach Break" special in January, although it's not yet clear if that will be an episode of Dynamite or a Bleacher Report Live special.
Matt Jackon is working with knee issues brought on by a MCL tear and a slight tear of his ACL, which Jackson stated over the weekend on the Full Gear media scrum that he's been working with for some time. He doesn't believe he will miss any time due to the issues but it's something everyone is keeping their eye on.
Scheduled for Wednesday's AEW Dynamite:
*The fallout of AEW Full Gear.
*MJF's Inner Circle Induction.
*Penta El Zero Miedo vs. Rey Fenix.
*AEW Tag Team Champions The Young Bucks vs. Top Flight.
*Bunkhouse Match: The Natural Nightmares with Brandi Rhodes vs. The Butcher & The Blade with Allie.
*Tay Conti with Anna Jay vs. Red Velvet with Brandi Rhodes.
*Cody Rhodes speaks.
*Scorpio Sky vs. Shawn Spears.
Over the weekend, Khan spoke with Sports Illustrated's Justin Barrasso and noted that he and the company were tightening rules regarding AEW talents working independent events, which given the current pandemic, is certainly the right move.
“I implemented a policy where people were only supposed to work indie shows when certain conditions were met, Khan said. "There have been times when people did not take that seriously, so I have tightened up the restrictions. I’ll still allow it under certain conditions, but people need to look me in the eye and say that the conditions are being met. Our talent and their opponent need to be tested before the show, and there also needs to be a good reason why the match is important. This is important for everyone’s safety, as well as important for our show. I’ve been flexible in the past because I thought it was good for the talent to have the opportunity to earn, as well as great for the fans and the indies as a whole. We also don’t run every night of the week, so it allows for talent to get extra reps, too. So we have a policy, and I’ll be enforcing it strictly. I am not going to end it, but we are taking a closer look at it. More so now than ever, people need to come to me directly about this. I am going to be strict about what people can and can’t do, but I won’t say you won’t see people make special appearances on independent shows because I think there is a lot of merit to that.”
The Elite Delition was taped last week in Cameron, NC at Matt Hardy's compound with Tony Khan producing and overseeing the match. Gangrel and Shane Helms, who appeared in a funny camero meant to close out the cliffhanger of WWE Network's Hardy Halloween special, are not currently slated for future appearances in AEW but the door is obviously open. Matt Hardy noted in a video he released (see below) that he had issues with his confidence coming out of his injury at the previous AEW PPV as well as guilt that the incident took attention away from the rest of the show:
Don Callis appeared at Full Gear at Kenny Omega's request.
AEW will have its first game announcement tomorrow. Given that Tony Khan has discussed wanting different games in different platforms and given the amount of time needed to build a major console (PS5, X-Box, etc.) release, my gut is we aren't getting THE major console announcement tomorrow. There will be a booking game where players will "be" Tony Khan putting together events.
As Tony Khan announced during an interview with us last week, The Acclaimed, Anthony Bowens and Max Caster, have signed with AEW. Bowens is an interesting case as he had been on WWE radar for some time, but we are told hadn't gotten an offer for NXT until he appeared on AEW Dark. We are told that while WWE made a nice offer to Bowens, AEW offered their own deal that allowed him to remain home in New Jersey and keep his position training others at the Create-A-Pro Academy, which also afffords Bowens the chance to stay close to family and pursue outside media projects.
