PURE CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT FINALS & MORE: ROH TV REPORT

 

It's the FINALS of the ROH Pure Championship Tournament.

Quinn McKay welcomes us and introduces us to Jonathan Gresham and Tracey Williams.  Quinn informs us that Matt Taven and Vincent have been fined for their actions two weeks ago.

Shane T Promotions (Shane Taylor and the Soldiers of Savagery, Moses & Khan) vs. ECIII & Mark & Jay Briscoe

 Khan and ECIII kick us off with a lockup and EC throws him down.  Another lockup, EC throws him down again.  Double leg take down by EC, Khan bails.  Khan beats him back in and stomps him down.  Back elbow by EC.  Mark tags in and they lockup, full nelson and hammerlock by Mark into an armtwist.  Knife edges by Mark. Back elbow by Khan.  Moses tags in and he hits a splash after an avalnache in the corner.  Moses with chops.  Blind tag to Jay, he hits a double forearm dive as we go to commercial.

We're back and Mark Briscoe is clearing the ring but Taylor with a right hand and a cutter.  Taylor meets Jay Briscoe with a knee strike for 2.  Khan tags in and nails some forearms.  Jay gets whipped into the corner and gets stomped down by the now legal Moses.  Moses drops forearms and tags in Taylor. Jay with punches to the midsection and tags in Mark.  Taylor misses a charge and gets thrown from the ring after a flying one-legged dropkick.  All 6 men are brawling at ringside now.  Mark hits a corkscrew moonsault to his opposition on the outside.  He tries the Froggy Bow on the inside to Taylor but misses.  Taylor with the Greetings from the 216 for the pin.

We get some final words from Tracy Williams and Jonathan Gresham

ROH Pure Championship Final: Jonathan Gresham vs. Tracy Williams

Code of Honor adhered to.  They start out fast, headlock takedown by Gresham and a quick counter by Williams.  Gresham blocks a hip toss but ends up going over the top rope.  They wrestle to a stalemate on the outside.  Back in the ring we get a lockup, armbar takedown by Williams.  Williams goes for the crossface but settles for a twisting hammerlock.  Gresham counters into an Indian deathlock.  Gresham drives his shoulder in for pressure as we go to commercial.

We're back and they trade go behinds and an armdrag by Gresham. Gresham with forearms to the bad shoulder of Williams at the 5:00 minute mark (60 minute time limit.  Williams uses a rope break.  Williams with a suplex.  Chinlock by Williams into a cravate, which he gets a series of 2 counts.  Gresham uses a rope break.  We are notified that the conclusion of this match will be on Honor Club if they run out of TV time.  They jockey for an arm twist.  Clothesline by Williams.  Gresham tries a spear but it gets blocked.  Northern lights by Gresham, chop by Williams, enziguiri and a German for 2 by Gresham.  Tackle by Williams for 2.  

10 minutes gone by.  A body scissors by Williams sends both to the outside.  Brain Buster on the re entry by Williams into a crossface and Gresham uses his 2nd rope break.  Williams misses a clothesline and a german for 2 by Gresham.  Forearm to the back by Gresham for 2.  Gresham applies a kimura but can't lock it.  Piledriver by Williams for 2, Gresham uses his third and final rope break.  Gresham blocks a chop and applies the octopus for an immediate tap out by Williams.

WINNER: Jonathan Gresham (New ROH Pure Champion)

Jay Lethal comes in to celebrate with Gresham.
