SWANN & EDWARDS VS. CALLIHAN & YOUNG, THE BRAVO INVESTIGATION BEGINS & MORE: IMPACT WRESTLING ON AXS TV REPORT

By Mike Johnson on 2020-11-03 22:00:00

This week's Impact Wrestling on AXS TV featured highlights of everything involving John E. Bravo leading up to his apparent murder during the Demon Wedding last week.  I can't believe I just wrote that sentence.

BRAVO LIVES!!  Scott D'Amore is on the phone and then relays to Tommy Dreamer that Bravo is in critical condition in a medically induced coma.  Dreamer is dressed like Sherlock Holmes and is launching an investigation.  Listen, I really appreciate Tommy Dreamer, but this is just plain goofy goofy goofy.  He says everyone is a suspect.  D'Amore say he's going to want to be shot "by the time this is done."

Impact Wrestling Knockouts Champion Su Yung vs. Deonna Purrazzo

Yung had control early and went for the Mandible Claw but Purrazzo nailed her and went after the arm, working it over to prepare for her double armbar submission.  Purrazzo attacked and stomped her wrist and tied her arm around the ropes, yanking at it to weaken it.

Purrazzo nailed a series of kicks but missed a charge.  Yung hung upside down and nailed a rana into the corner.  She followed up with the Lou Thesz Press and wailed away with a series of strikes.  Yung nailed several hip strikes to keep Purrazzo off balance.  Purrazzo fired back and they nailed each other with clotheslines at the same time.  Yung applied the Mandible Claw but Kimber Lee tossed a chair into the ring.  Yung released the hold and turned to Lee.  Purrazzo went for the chair but Yung prevented her and nailed her with it.

Your winner by DQ, Deonna Purrazzo!

Yung used the chair on Deonna and Kimber, leaving them laying.

More of an angle than a match.

Josh Mathews and Madison Rayne said we've learned Yung is capable of anything.  They note Tommy Dreamer is on the Bravo case.  The Knockouts Tag Team title tournament kicks off in two weeks.

Backstage, Heath and Rhino were waiting to sign Heath's deal.  Scott D'Amore told them the deal is ready and when Heath signs, he will be competing next week.  Since Heath is hurt, he was being evasive and Scott told them to knock off the carny stuff and that Heath's deal will be waiting when he's healthy and ready to return.

RD Evans showed up and said the Knockouts Title rematch wasn't what his client, Deonna Purrazzo was promised.  Scott agreed and said he doesn't want to argue or negotiate with Evans, so Deonna gets a rematch at Turning Point on 11/14 in an Anything Goes, No DQ match where anything Yung wants is allowed, so now Deonna can't complain she didn't have a fair shot.  Evans was not thrilled.

Backstage, Impact Wrestling Champion Rich Swann met with Eddie Edwards.  He was happy they are together.  Edwards said he's got Swann's back.  They have their history with Eric Young and Sami Callihan and they can take them down tonight.

Chris Bey vs. Trey Miguel

They locked up and had some nice back and forth grappling reversals.  Bey went for a leapfrog and landed on Miguel's shoulders but was tossed off.  They exchanged deep armdrags and faced off.  Bey slapped Miguel and drilled him with a big dropkick into the corner.  Bey followed up, ripping at Miguel in the corner.   He whipped Miguel into the opposite corner.  Miguel caught him coming and snapped him down, then nailed a kick and a standing moonsault for a two count.

Bey and Miguel battle back and forth until Bey is dropkicked to the floor.  Miguel went for a dive but Bey returned and they battled back and forth with strikes and reversals.  Bey was sent into the corner but raked Miguel's eyes when he advanced.  Bey began kicking and stomping away at the Rascal, focusing on his back.  Miguel nailed a 619 variation and a neckbreaker for a two count.

Miguel went to the top but was crotched by Bey.  Bey attempted a superplex but Miguel avoided it and went for a sunset flip bomb off the top.  Bey held on to prevent it and kicked an advancing Miguel.  Bey came off the top with a stunner variation for the pin.

Your winner, Chris Bey!

Entertaining bout.

The latest edition of Locker Room Talk with Madison Rayne is next.  Johnny Swinger is back at co-host.  The guests are Jordynne Grace and Tenille Dashwood.  Neither has a partner yet for the Knockouts Tag Team Championship tournament.  Grace admitted she hasn't had any success in finding a partner yet.  Dashwood used the segment to ask Rayne to be her partner in the tournament and she and Madison began fawning over each other with Grace stuck awkwardly sitting there.  Kaleb with a K wanted to take a photo to commemorate the moment and asked Grace to get out of the way, so she smashed his camera and walked out.

Backstage, referee Brandon Tolle was getting grilled by Tommy Dreamer.  Tolle questioned why he would have shot Bravo.  Dreamer showed footage of Bravo ripping on Tolle's refereeing skills.  Dreamer dismissed him.  Cody Deaner and Johnny Swinger were both next.  It turned out they were facing each other tonight.  Dreamer told them to have their match and come back because they are both suspects.  They played dramatic music that made all this over the top silly.

X-Division Champion Rohit Raju came out to boast about being five stars at once at Bound for Glory.  He is having another Defeat Rohit Challenge.  He demanded fresh meat.  TJP came to the ring.  He knocked Raju and said he's here for opportunity.  Raju said he lost his opportunity when he lost at the PPV.  He offered TJP an oopportunity to get the hell out of his ring.  TJP said everyone he beat have something in common, none of them are TJP.  Raju said he was trying to be polite but TJP keeps trying to use his opportunity.  Raju said he clawed and scratched to earn where he is and now he shines like the sun he is in the sky.  He questioned who the hell TJP is?  TJP said that's good for him, but it was all cutting corners.  TJP said he's put in 23 years of work and has been doing this for longer than Raju has been watching wrestling.  He ran down his resume and said he put in the work.  He was homeless and accomplished everything he has done.  Life and wrestling couldn't beat him, so why does Raju think he can beat him?  Raju said he has the resume of a has-been and is pathetic.  Raju told him to leave his ring.  TJP started to leave but returned.  He smashed a Styrofoam cup of tea into Raju and they began brawling.  Raju grabbed him by the throat but TJP broke free and tossed him to the floor.  Raju backed up as TJP held the ring.  One would think this is set for Turning Point coming out of this.

Gia Miller interviewed Chris Sabin for an update on Alex Shelley after he was attacked by XXXL.  He said Shelley would be fine but he's tired of the game everyone is playing, divide and conquer.  The North attacked Shelley at the PPV.  XXXL injured him last week.  Sabin said he's throwing out a challenge for Acey or Larry to come out and face him one on one.

Rohit Raju complained to Scott D'Amore.  TJP stormed in.  D'Amore said it's not hard to settle this - he agreed that TJP will get one more shot.

Impact Tag Team Champion Ethan Page vs. Doc Gallows

Gallows enforced his will early.  Page tried to nail a series of punches and kicks but was shoulderblocked out of the ring.  He tried to regain his composure before returning.  Page returned to the ring for more of the same.  He finally gains control and nailed a DDT for a two count and cinched in a side headlock. He brought Gallows into the corner for a series of shoulderblocks.

Gallows nailed Page with an elbow to the back and began working over Page but was raked across the eyes.  He drilled Gallows with a right hand and went back to the side chinlock.  Gallows was sent into the corner but nailed Page as he charged in.  Gallows nailed a series of clotheslines and whipped Page into the corner.  He nailed a running back elbow and a leaping shoulderblock.  Gallows set up for running charge but Josh Alexander grabbed his leg.  Karl Anderson nailed him but was sent into the ring post.

Gallowed nailed a big boot and pinned Page.

Your winner, Doc Gallows!

The North put the boots to Gallows but Anderson made the save and ran them off.

Gia Miller interviewed Swoggle.  He said that he's happy to be back in Impact.  He said he's always felt like a misfit toy and Impact is that island.  He wants to be viewed as a serious professional wrestler.  Bryan Myers said he's the most professional wrestler and Swoggle is just a sideshow freak.  Swoggle said that since Myers has come to Impact, he hasn't been himself.  Myers said that Swoggle has stolen money everywhere he has worked.  He shoved Swoggle down and Gia checked on him.

Cody Deaner vs. Johnny Swinger

They locked up.  Swinger tried to grab the arm but Deaner reversed and took him down with a shoulderblock.  Swinger went for a hiptoss but Deaner blocked and nailed him, then stomped away on Swinger.

Deaner began to mount offense with a series of strikes and a clothesline.  Swinger avoided a move and went to the floor to grab a steel chair.  He went to swing it but Cousin Jake pulled it away.  Jake argued with the referee, allowing Swinger to nail Deaner with a packed fanny pack, scoring the pin.

Your winner, Johnny Swinger!

TNA Champion Moose came to the ring.  He said that the past few months, he and the TNA title haven't been taken seriously, but that shouldn't be a problem anymore.  Some are saying he didn't earn the title.  That he grabbed it from a trash can but at Bound for Glory, he went to hell and back and damn near killed a man who some say was the greatest TNA champion in company history.  He controlled his narrative and is born again.  He reviewed the last few years in Impact, being undefeated in PPVs.  He beat Rob Van Dam, Rhino, Ken Shamrock, Tommy Dreamer and EC3.  Moose said that no one talks about that.  All they talk about is Rich Swann, the Impact Champion.  Swann carries what Moose believes is the second most important title in this company.  He should ask EC3 what real pain feels like.  He promised to show everyone what real pain looks like.  They showed footage of Moose's attack on Willie Mack last week.  It was weird Swann didn't show any concern for Mack earlier.  Moose asked Swann to go ask Mack what real pain looks like.  He told Swann he's been warned.  Mack hit the ring and they brawled back and forth.  Mack was backed into a camera man and turned to see who it was.  Moose attacked him and sent him into the camera, then smashed him into the apron and left him laying.

Backstage, Chris Bey tried to manipulate Rich Swann into giving him a title shot but Swann told him they have to be earned.  Eddie Edwards showed up and said it was time for their match and they left Bey sitting there.  He was not happy.

Detective Dreamer has narrowed his suspects down to ten - Fallah Bah, Havok, Johnny Swinger, Cody Deaner, Jim Mitchell, Rosemary, Taya, Larry D, Hernandez, Brandon Tolle.  Mitchell was offended he was being accused since he's a perfect angel.  He then admitted he'd blame him too.  Taya said she too has been a perfect angel and has been on her best behavior.  Dreamer said that makes her a prime suspect.  He said that it wasn't going to be solved this week but he would find out who shot John E. Bravo.  Spoiler: The booker did it.  Can we all go home?  They showed mugshots of all the potential would-be murderers.  I've enjoyed the silly of the last few months with these talents but even this one is stretching it for me.

Impact Champion Rich Swann & Eddie Edwards vs. Eric Young & Sami Callihan

Swann and Edwards had control on Callihan early on, scoring several two counts.  Young was extremely verbal from his corner and was really great.  Callihan reversed a whip, allowing Young to kick Edwards in the back.  This changed the momentum of the match with Young tagging in and drilling Edwards with elbows and punches.  He locked on a chinlock, menacing Edwards before slamming him back into the buckles.  Callihan tagged in and they continued the mayhem.

Callihan cinched in a rear chinlock, working over Edwards.  Edwards was worked over for a long time as Callihan and Young kept tagging in and out.  Edwards nailed a Blue Thunder Bomb but Young tagged in and nailed Swann off the apron.  Edwards whipped Young into the buckles.  Young went up and over and ran across the apron but Edwards nailed him on the next corner and hit a superplex into the ring.

Swann made the hot tag and battled with Callihan, then superkicked Young.  He nailed a top rope rana on Callihan for a two count but Young broke up the pinfall.  Edwards tagged in and he and Swann brought the fight to Callihan and Young.  They locked on stereo submissions.  Young grabbed Callihan's hand to stop him from tapping.  He kicked Swann into Edwards.  Edwards hit a catapult on Young, sending him to the floor.  Callihan and Edwards exchanged kicks.  Eddie nailed the Backpack stunner but Callihan kicked up.  Edwards turned it into a single-leg Boston Crab.  Swann and Young battled on the floor.  Ken Shamrock attacked Swann and sent him into the ring post.  Edwards let go and Callihan rolled him up for a two.  Edwards was hit with a piledriver for the pin.

Your winners, Eric Young and Eddie Edwards!
