11/1 NJPW ROAD TO POWER STRUGGLE REPORT

By James Kurokawa on 2020-11-01 15:52:00

New Japan Road to POWER STRUGGLE for November 1 From Korakuen Hall in Tokyo.

Shingo Takagi is at ringside for commentary.

Yota Tsuji vs. Yuya Uemura

Uemura pins Tsuji with a Double Overhook suplex with a bridge.

Toru Yano, YOSHI-HASHI and Hirooki Goto vs. DOUKI, Zack Sabre Jr. and Taichi

Goto pins DOUKI with a GYW (a GTR with YOSHI-HASHI holding the legs of DOUKI).  Fun match with Suzuki-Gun heel tactics mixed with Yano comedy.  This was a preview to the IWGP Tag Team Championship match later this week.   ZSJ and Taichi attack Goto and YOSHI-HASHI after the match.   Yano saves his CHAOS members and they lay out the Tag Team Champions.   Goto and YOSHI-HASHI pose with the Tag Belts warning the champs that they will be winning the belts very soon.

Gabriel Kidd and Kazuchika Okada vs. The Great O-Khan and Will Ospreay, with Bea Priestley

O-Khan pins Kidd with an Iron Claw Slam.  Good match!   Kidd looked great in the match and the crowd cheered when he attempted a Butterfly Suplex in the match.   O-Khan continues to look great, building him like the monster he is supposed to be.

Tomoaki Honma, Hiroshi Tanahashi and Kota Ibushi vs. Chase Owens, KENTA and Jay White, with Gedo

Chase Owens makes his way to the ring and announcers pop big for his appearance.   Owens has “Tracy R.I.P. ” on his wrist tape for Tracy Smothers.   Owens pins Honma with a Package Piledriver.   Solid match.   Good to see Owens back in New Japan.   As they exit, Bullet Club attacks Yuya Uemura and Yota Tsuji who are working at ringside.

SANADA and Tetsuya Naito vs. Yujiro Takahashi and EVIL, with Dick Togo

Naito and SANADA win by disqualification.   EVIL and Togo attacked and choked out Naito and threw Red Shoes, the referee, to the ring floor, which led to the disqualification.  Naito is laid out by EVIL who hits Everything is Evil.   Takagi leaves the commentary table to assist his fallen teammate.

IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Tag Team Championship:   BUSHI and Hiromu Takahashi vs. Yoshinobu Kanemaru and El Desperado

In the middle of the match, BUSHI was going for an MX on El Desperado. Desperado pulled Red Shoes into the attack.  Red Shoes caught a knee to the head and stayed down on the mat.   BUSHI tried to wake him.  Yota Tsuji and Gabriel Kidd were at ringside trying to help.   Announcers were calling it an accident.   All four wrestlers were down.  Officials in suits came to ringside to help Red Shoes.   Yota Tsuji carefully rolled him to apron.  The camera panned to the wrestlers to avoid showing what was happening.  Red Shoes was unable to walk.   Red Shoes was put on the back of one of the young lions and they took him to the locker room.   Scary situation.   I hope for the best for Red Shoes.

The match continues.

El Desperado blocks another MX attempt by BUSHI and hits Pinche Loco.   Desperado pins BUSHI.   Suzuki-Gun retains the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Tag Team Championships.    This was a great match.   Despite the accident to Red Shoes, all wrestlers looked at the top of their game.   Hopefully, all four men will be in the Super Junior Tournament coming in November.

The Road to POWER STRUGGLE continues tomorrow.
