The Serena Deeb vs. Leyla Hirsh bout that aired on AEW Dynamite wasn't originally slated for the broadcast, or even slated to take place. Initially, the episode was slated to feature Taynara Conti vs. Abadon but just a few minutes into that match, Abadon caught by accident with a hard strike to the throat, leading to the match being stopped and her being taken to the hospital as a precaution to make sure there was no serious injury. Deeb and Hirsch were then tapped to put together a match and then hit the ring 15-20 minutes later, tearing down the house with a great bout. The performance pretty much guaranteed you'll be seeing a lot more of Hirsch in AEW going forward we are told. Hirsch, 23, has been wrestling for several years and has a great back story. She and her twin sister were adopted from Russia at a young age, which is why she was billed from Moscow last night. Hirsch was a standout amateur wrestler in New Jersey and has shown a great aptitude for the business from her earliest matches in 2017. She initially broke in with CZW and has toured Japan for STARDOM.
We are told Abadon was OK.
Anthony Bowens and Max Caster will be teaming regularly for AEW. There had been rumblings of WWE offering Bowens a NXT developmental deal after his last appearance on AEW Dark, but he has continued to appear on Dark.
AEW will be live weekly through the night before Thanksgiving, which as of this week, is slated to be taped.
AEW has released official t-shirts for Serena Deeb, Vickie Guerrero and Tully Blanchard (!) at www.ShopAEW.com.
