ROH BUBBLE PROFILED BY BALTIMORE SUN

By Mike Johnson on 2020-10-21 10:36:00

The Baltimore Sun featured a profile on Ring of Honor's efforts to create a bubble for their talents in order to perform on recent ROH TV tapings, featuring quotes from ROH's Joe Koff, Jay Lethal, Caprice Coleman and Matt Taven, including Koff describing the bubble as ROH's "crowning achievement."

Koff noted that the company worked with the Maryland State Athletic Commission to create the rules and parameters for the bubble, noting it took months to set the plans into motion.

“Wrestlers, we live in hotel rooms,” Jay Lethal told the Sun. “So I was like, ‘This isn’t going to be too bad.’ Until you’re told you can’t leave your room. … We could’ve made a whole show just sending a camera to everyone’s room to see how they were passing the time.”

“I could almost physically see the relief on people’s faces when this game plan was presented to us,” said Taven.

“I thought it was going to be a nightmare without the people there,” Lethal said. “The flashiness that’s normally there is put on the back burner. You aren’t pandering or working for what some would call the pop. … I will admit not everybody’s going to like it, but this I feel is the perfect style of wrestling for the pandemic.”

There are plans for ROH to tape again in December, but the article noted that the situation could always change depending on the direction of the pandemic.
