AC MACK VS. BRETT ISON & MORE: ACTION WRESTLING 'FRIDAT NIGHT FIGHTS' REPORT FROM TYRONE, GA

By Adam Cardoza on 2020-10-21 01:14:00

Action Wrestling “Friday Night Fights”

Taped: 10/3/20

Tyrone, GA

The second half of Action’s October double header. The 1st half, “Action Shock” was reported here:

This second show is stacked with some main event caliber matchups but it has some work to do after the main event from the previous card.

Match 1: Matt Sells (w/ Kung Fu Janela) vs Ken Dixon

Last month, Matt Sells extended his Action win streak to 2 matches after a hard fought win over Effy. Dixon attacks with clubbing blows while Sells was talking to Janela at ringside. Sells comes back with a hip attack, driving Dixon’s face to the mat several times. Dixon is staggered by stomping out Sells. Dixon clawing at the face and tries to stack him for a dirty pin. Sells wants a crossbody but Dixon catches it. They end up wiping each other out with a double cross body. Sells firing up with clotheslines and double axe handles. Knee to the face and a cutter. Sells hits the palm strike and Dixon stays down for three.

Winner: Matt Sells

3 in a row for Matt Sells. He weathered the storm as Dixon may have worn himself out beating up his opponent. Solid start to the card though the end result wasn’t really in doubt. Sells just beat Effy after all. He ain’t losing here.

Match 2: Eric Martin vs Adam Priest

Priest with a shove challenge and Martin shoves him to the canvas. Martin with a shoulder block and a drop kick. Priest on the defense and drags Martin to the outside. Big man eats a couple of chops and returns them with 10x power. Priest catches a break and posts Eric Martin. Slingshot senton to the back for a two count. Drop kick to the weakened back by Priest. Running elbow to the back with the arm in a hammerlock and Priest is breaking down his larger opponent. Priest working a standing cross face but Martin slams out of it. Martin with a flapjack suplex and sends Priest to the corner. Big lariat for two. Priest trying for a lion tamer but Marint powers out. Martin comes running but gets tossed to the corner. Frog splash to the back and a lion tamer causes Eric Ryan to tap quickly.

WInner: Adam Priest

Priest is becoming a giant killer in Action. He gets an opening, breaks the opponent down and makes them quit. Good turnaround here. Martin has a bit of a Drew McIntyre look to him and definitely played the powerhouse effectively early. But this was more a showcase of Priest’s methods.

Match 3: “The Ace God” Arik Royal vs “Hoodfoot” Mo Atlas

Big. Men. Slapping. Meat. Royal and Hoodfoot work the crowd up a little bit. Royal ambushes while Hoodfoot plays to the crowd. Irish whip, drop down, Hoodfoot with a shoulder block and tosses Royal outside. Atlas wants a dive but gets decked instead. Royal with a big boot and uppercut but Hoodfoot throwing shots from the corner. Arik with a elbow and a headbutt. Running junkyard headbutt sends Atlas to the floor. Hoodfoot back in and eats a spinning back kick from Royal for two. Hoodfoot gets a cravat and throws Royal back on it for two. Hoodfoot throwing punches and hits a Russian leg sweep into the corner. Two count with Royal’s foot on the rope. Wrist lock pulled into a clotheslines and Hoodfoot drops a lariat to the ground for two. Royal back up and they battle over a German. Hoodfoot gets the suplex for two. Trading chops. Hyping up. More chops. Body shots and uppercuts. Royal drops Hoodfoot, pulls him back up and send him down with another lariat for two. Hoodfoot staggered with a right, bounces back with a lariat and they both downed. Hoodfoot up first but Royal catches a lariat and hits an exploder. Hoodfoot powers back up but eats another exploder. Royal takes three attempts to hit a powerbomb on Atlas but he kicks out and gets back up. Royal is frustrated. Hoodfoot comes running into Royal’s flying face smash to the canvas. 1 2 3.

Winner: Arik Royal

That was a lot of fun. Hard work from both guys. Arik Royal had to dig deep to finish Hoodfoot off, who gutted out the finishing sequences. A week later, Hoodfoot retires Erick Stevens. Tim is weird, y’all.

Match 4: Angelus Layne vs O’Shay Edwards

The followup to Layne’s portrait of violence she created with Nolan Edward last month. O’Shay just got done killing Cabana Man Dan earlier. Face to face. Layne with a slap. Edwards wants her to hit him. He takes a few shots and he staggers but sends her to the outside with a belly to belly. Clubbing blows and an apron shot at ringside. Layne kicks the bottom rope and stuns the Kaiju’s nethers. Layne dropping shots and trying to choke him on the rope but it’s just annoying him. Edwards wants his sit out tombstone but she trips him face first into the buckle. She wants a running knee but he catches the leg and tosses her up and over. Layne traps him down in the corner and hits a running double knee. Edwards is holding his neck but comes back, tries for a superplex but Layne blocks it and he stumbles down and hits his head. He tries again but she rakes the eyes. Layne switches position and pulls him down with a spider german suplex. Saito suplex! She wants the running knee but he catches her again and hits a stampede powerslam. Spinebuster, release German, gutwrench powerbomb, two count! He want the tombstone but she slips it, near ref bump but enough of a distract that she hits a low blow. Running knee but only a one count. Another running knee. A third! O’Shay Edward is out for the pin.

WInner: Angelus Layne

Pretty hard hitting. The ending knees lacked a little visual punch but these two were beating the heck out of each other throughout. Great story telling from commentary, focusing everyone on the repeated damage Edwards’ neck took in his two matches of the double header while also pointing out Layne’s own comeback from neck injury. Layne gets the win back that was stolen from her last month in a very definitive fashion.

Main Event: AC Mack vs Brett Ison (For the Action & Bonestorm Championships) (No Rope No DQ Match)

AC Mack’s music hits but there’s chaos in the entryway. Brett Ison drags Mack and his belts out from the back. Ison wants payback from his last match against Mack where his hand was on the rope and the ref missed it. Now there’s no ropes! They fight up to the commentary station. Ison with a DVD from the commentary table over the ringside gap to the canvas. Ison brings a table down to ringside. Mack dodges a plex but his desire to not fall off the canvas runs into a stiff fist. Ison with kicks and a scoop slam. He still wants to pay back Mack for taking the SUP Bonestorm belt from him. Mack grabs the belt but Ison cuts him off initially. Mack with a belt shot counter and a running belt shot for two. Ison powers back with a fireman’s carry driver. Mack with a low blow and a meteora and barely misses falling out of the ring. Mack trying to kick out the legs of Ison. Ison is wobbling and absorbing kicks to the head, finally hitting the mat after a running drop kick to the head. One count! Mack wants a Mack-10 on the belt. He manages to hit a tornado DDT on it instead. Ison posted and Mack grabs a chair. Throw, catch, superkick sends the chair into Ison’s face. One count. Ison is a beast. Rolling elbow and a flapjack suplex onto the belt and Mack convulses out at two. Ison trying to pull Mack up but the champ crumbles to the ground. Mack suckers Ison in for a running knee but Ison falls off the ring into the ringside table. Two count. Mack-10! Two count! Mack with a chair shot and Ison want more. A second chair shot fires him back to his feet but a third one sends him back to the canvas. Mack needs MORE CHAIRS. Ison gets his neck up in a chair. Mack can’t go for the kill shot and Ison slides out. This doesn’t stop Mack from stalking and dropping more chair shots from above. Ison lets Mack put the chair over his head again and begs for the finishing shot. Ison to his feet and Mack with a pair of home run swings sends that chair spinning. Mack sets up a char stack and hits the Mack-10 to Ison for the definitive three count.

WInner: AC Mack

Ison is such a beast but AC Mack got his momentum on that low blow and slowly picked Ison apart from here.....but Ison came with him the whole way, begging for more and daring Mack to take the violence further. Great little war here. Knowing that Mack lost the Bonestorm belt a week later, I wonder how deep he will dig (or how much he will have to cheat) to keep his grasp on the Action belt for the foreseeable future...

And that’s it for “Friday Night Fights”! Clocking in at 73min on IWTV, there’s no reason to not watch this whole thing. 5 solid matches, good build, great main. Meat and Potatoes indie wrestling and I was hungry for this hearty dinner. Check it out! Until next time!
