So full disclosure: I haven’t watched Impact in a hot second and I don’t listen to the Good Brothers Talk N Shop podcast....but I DO know that it’s Bound For Glory week and AXS TV is giving Gallows & Anderson their own TV special after Impact this week ahead of their 2nd Talk N Shop PPV. So that on its own is reason to give this an eye. So let's see what am I getting myself into?!?
The announcer kicks us off with Gallows and Anderson in the Turnbuckle Bar & Grill in RingGold, GA, calling this the worst TV special ever. Gallow welcomes us to Full Keg and introduces Josh Morningstar to play a Talk N Shop theme song after a wink and a nod towards someone who is a one man band. Gallows talks about how they plan to take the Impact Tag Titles at Bound For Glory.
Gallows says SOMETHING is missing. Something small. Something with a cauliflower ear. It’s Rocky Romero who runsin. He’s mad that the Good Brothers left him behind but they cheer him up with a song from Josh Morningstar. He needs a boost so Gallows boosts him onto the bar. He’s short, you see.
Time for a cheap plug and Gallows reveals the new “Talk N Shop Bourbon Whiskey”. Veteran Owned and operated. They bring out Andy, the owner of Leatherwood distillery to do a shot of the whiskey.
We got to a fake wrestling school segment. Anderson as the owner of Chadd 2 Badd Dojo showing off all his fighting skills and beats up a student.
We plug Bound For Glory again and NJPW World. Time for another reveal! It’s a new cartoon series starring Gallows and Ander—The boss arrives! Scott D’Amore bursts in to wave the show format in their face. He gave them everything they wanted and ignored the NJPW plug but there’s no cartoon. They say Scott’s in the cartoon too! He softens up even though he knows they’re lying.
They play the footage: We get a South Park-sequence cut over as D’Amore smacks down Gallows for lying about how good his abs would be in the cartoon. Gallows says to look, D’Amore has GLOWING ABS OF AN ADONIS.
They roll tape of “the Gimmicks”, an adult-themed wrestling TV show they are producing. In the sneak peak, the gang hangs out in a ring and watches a sex tape of Enzo and “Mick’s daughter”. Oh no.....They conspire to book him for a huge payday but he doesn’t return their calls. They catfish him using adult film actress Lisa Ann, swimming in a pool next to them, as bait. Anderson, errr Chad 2 Badd begs off of Lisa Ann, citing what his hot Asian wife will do to his junk if caught.....I’m sure someone will like this.
We get a brief “T-Shirt Trap” rap video by Rocky Romero featuring Colt Cabana. We go to a drug deal style raid for bootleg wrestling merchandise.
Another reveal: It’s sounds like the honky took ma—Hunka Hunka Vernon Love is here. Scott D’Amore is back and mad about how dumb this is and how Love doesn’t count as their contractual guest star. They try to bring in a bunch of jobber minions and pass them off as guest stars. Scott says the minions have to go to the ring and the Good Brothers will commentate. Gallows says the winner gets a match on Xplosion. D’Amore refuses to agree to that. Gallows as Sex Ferguson is here as a car dealer to sell us a hearse and promote Talk N Shop A Mania 2.
Minion Battle Royale - Vernon Love vs Lazer vs Lariato Man vs Scotty Beans vs George North vs Francisco Piazzo
A match? Are these names real or remotely correct? [Note from Mike Johnson: THEY ARE, INDEED!]
Someone didn’t run the announcer mic into the camera feed. Lazer puts Vernon on the top and pushes him out. Lazer knocks himself out on a dive and Lariato Man tosses him. Brian Myers is here and enters the ring with an Impact toy ring. Lariato Man tries a sunset flip but he sucks. Myers hits him with the toy ring and leaves. Lariato to the top and Scotty Beans hits him with a pool noodles and dumps him. George and Frankie use the pool noodle and crotches Scotty and send him out. Johnny Swinger comes out and throws them both out as Heath Slater, in costume as “Pelvis Wesley” dances in to eliminate Swinger and win the Battle Royale. Sure, Why not?!
Heath is out and Scott tells him to be in the gauntlet at Bound For Glory. Scott wants the guest star or no one gets paid. Gallows said they dug deep to deliver on this. He’s showing up in a Hummerzine...it’s Ric Flai—no, he turns around and it’s definitely not him. It's Nature Boy Paul Lee. He WOOS and does shots and wear sunglasses and WOOS. Scott is frustrated and says he was ready to cover their butts. He hits a button on his phone and the siren hits.
It’s Scott Steiner! PLEASE SAVE US, PROFESSOR STEINER. The special only has a few minutes left!
Steiner stares down and beats up fake Flair who sells with WOO’S. Steiner thought it was him but D’Amore correct him. He’s embarrassed that he thought he was beating down the real one and leaves. Oh. Ok. They bring back fake Flair who chugs the whiskey bottle and flops. We get it. Morningstar plays “Grizzled Young Vet” as they have a singalong with everyone left in the bar as we mercifully end the special.
So, I know they have a fan base for the podcast and I know they did good numbers with the first Talk N Shop PPV...but was this good TV? Well, maybe it WAS the #WorstSpecialEver? Or just bad. Scott D’Amore was a treat, at least. I’m sure this was good for someone....
The next Talkin' Shop-A-Mania PPV is November 12th on FITE.TV and REAL, ACTUAL PPV - consider yourself warned!
