The match starts fast. Lots of aerials by Ospreay and power moves by Cobb. Ospreay has been showing an arrogant heelish attitude throughout the G1 Climax. Ospreay was teasing Cobb with kicks and slaps to the head. Cobb had enough and launched Ospreay across the ring with a Belly-to-Belly suplex. Cobb follows up with a running European Uppercut and a running back suplex. Two count by Cobb. Cobb picks up Ospreay for a body slam, transitions to a suplex position, then slams him back first to the mat, as if he was a rag doll. Two count by Cobb. Cobb with a bear hug submission. Cobb gutwrenches Ospreay up into a powerbomb. Ospreay rolls out into a sunset flip. Cobb pulls him up by the neck. Ospreay with a dropkick to the face. Ospreay with a flipping spin kick off the ropes. Cobb misses a standing moonsault. Ospreay hits a standing shooting star press for a two count. Ospreay with Pip Pip Cheerio for a two count. Ospreay misses a Hidden Blade. Cobb drops him with a lariat. Cobb hits a standing moonsault for a two count. Ospreay reverses a Tour of the Islands into a sunset flip pin, but only a two count. Cobb powers out of a Stormbreaker and super kicks Ospreay. Ospreay plants Cobb and hits a 450 splash. Two count. Two super kicks by Ospreay. Ospreay goes for an Oscutter. Cobb catches in a fireman's carry and hits an F5 but lets go so Ospreay spins a few times in the air. Cobb with a two count. Cobb goes for a Tour of the Islands. Ospreay wiggles out. He bounces off the ropes for an Oscutter. Cobb blocks it and pushes Ospreay into the corner. Ospreay launches off the corner and hits the Oscutter. Two count. Cobb slides out of Stormbreaker. Ospreay jumps on the shoulders of Cobb. Cobb grabs Ospreay around the waist and hits a hard release German suplex. Cobb hits Tour of the Islands and gets the pinfall win!
Wow. Great match! Cobb in the spoiler position earns another two points but keeps Ospreay at 10 points.
Kota Ibushi vs. Yujiro Takahashi
Takahahi tries to take the match to the floor. Ibushi wants to keep it in the ring. Ibushi dropkicks Takahashi out of the ring. Takahashi pulls Ibushi out and throws him into the guardrail Takahashi with a reverse DDT on the floor. Ibushi retreats as if hurt. Takahahi rolls him in the ring and stomps him in the stomach and back. Takahashi hits a leg drop, elbow and headbutt. Takahashi with a suplex. Ibushi fights back with kicks. Takahashi hits a lariat. Takahashi goes for a sliding dropkick but Ibushi leaps up and hits him with a double stomp. Ibushi blasts Takahashi with a kick to the head. Ibushi goes for a Last Ride, but Takahashi rolls out and hits an Olympic Slam. Takahashi hits a Fisherman Buster from the top rope. He picks up Ibushi and hits another Fisherman Buster. Ibushi kicks out at two. They reversed out of each other's finishers. Ibushi with a jumping knee strike. Ibushi knocks him silly with a Kamagoye. Ibushi gets the pinfall win.
Good match. I was hoping Yujiro would get a win here. After being the face of Bullet Club for the most of the COVID months in New Japan, I was hoping he would not be a footnote. However, Ibushi is the first to reach 12 points and the lead in A Block.
Shingo Takagi vs. Taichi
Match started slow with Taichi avoiding Takagi. Taichi baits Takagi to the outside. Taichi attacks Takagi with the bell hammer and chokes him with it. Back in the ring, Taichi attacks the neck and throat of Takagi. Taichi tries for a Dangerous Suplex, but Takagi reverses and hits one of his own. Takagi with a suplex and Sliding Lariat. Taichi with a Jumping High Kick. Takagi with elbow, punch and lariat combination. Takagi hits a Noshigami. Takagi with a two count. They start throwing lariats, chops and kicks. Too much action to call here. Taichi slows it down with a Dangerous Suplex. Taichi with a Pumping Bomber. Two count. Taichi attempted a low blow, which Takagi blocked. He hit Taichi with an Axe Bomber to the neck and rolled him up in a Gedo Clutch. Two count only. Takagi hit Made in Japan. Taichi kicks out at two. Takagi with a Pumping Bomber. Two count. Takagi goes for Last of the Dragon. Taichi rakes his eyes. Taichi picks up Takagi in a torture rack and spins him into a sit-down powerbomb. Two count. Taichi tries the Gedo Clutch. Takagi kicks out at two. Taichi blasts Takagi with a Superkick and hits Black Mephisto for a pinfall win.
Great match! Taichi earns another 2 points. Both Takagi and Taichi do not have enough points to catch Ibushi, but they can play spoilers going forward.
Minoru Suzuki vs. Jay White, with Gedo
White keeps his distance early on. He and Gedo do the Too Sweet pose on the floor. White keeps running away and avoiding a lock up. When White finally decides to wrestle, Suzuki attacks his arm and tries to rip his fingers off. White escapes to the ropes. Suzuki smacks him with chops and a mafia kick to the face. He locks White in a arm submission in the ropes. Gedo tries to interfere but Suzuki drops the submission to meet Gedo face to face. Gedo backs off and White attacks Suzuki from behind. He throws him into guardrails and chokes him with wires. Suzuki looks pissed. Suzuki gets back in the ring and White attacks him with elbows and hits a neckbreaker. White goes for a pin. Suzuki kicks out at one. White locks in a rear chinlock. White rakes Suzuki's eyes and he retreats to the ropes. Gedo is holding a chair outside the ring. Red Shoes, the referee, goes to to stop him. White appears with another chair to hit Suzuki. Suzuki avoids the attack and beats down White with the chair. White baits Suzuki close to the corner and hits a suplex into the turnbuckle. White follows up with European Uppercuts. White throws elbows into Suzuki's face in the corner. Suzuki comes out of the corner unfazed and drops White with a wicked elbow. White tries to shield himself from Suzuki with Red Shoes but Suzuki connects with another elbow. Suzuki traps White in the corner and hits him with punches and elbows. White goes after Suzuki's leg with a kneebreaker and a chop block. White with kicks to the leg and leg whips. White with a running Death Valley Driver. Two count. Chops by White and a DDT. White pulls him up but Suzuki goes for an arm submission. White tries to leave the ring but Suzuki attacks him and drags him back to the ring. White tries to go after Suzuki's leg but Suzuki grabs White in an ankle lock. White gets to the ropes. Suzuki hits two solid elbow to White's face. Gedo enters the ring. Suzuki sees him. White chop blocks Suzuki again. White hits a Blade Buster. White tries for a Bladerunner but Suzuki locks him in a cross arm breaker. Suzuki locks it in deep. Gedo jumps on the ring apron. Red Shoes confronts Gedo. White taps out. Suzuki continues to lock in the submission hold then lets go. He punches Gedo and returns to attack White. They reverse out of each other's finishers. Suzuki locks in a sleeper. Suzuki goes for the Gotch Piledriver. Gedo grabs Red Shoe's legs. White with a low blow to Suzuki. White with a Bladerunner. White with the pinfall win and two points.
Good match. Too much interference from Gedo. But it is what it is. Minoru Suzuki is pissed and goes after Red Shoes. The young lions take Suzuki back to the locker room but they get punched by Suzuki for their efforts.
Jay White and Kota Ibushi are now tied at 12 points for the A Block lead.
Kazuchika Okada vs. Tomohiro Ishii
CHAOS member facing each other. Good wrestling early on. No man is taking a short cut. Ishii starts throwing chops into Okada chest and throat. Ouch! Okada countered with a flapjack. Speed starts to pick up. They start throwing punches and elbows. Okada is dropped with an elbow to the jaw. Ishii goes for a Superplex. Okada punches his way out and hits a neckbreaker. Ishii with a release German suplex into the turnbuckle. Ishii hits a Superplex but only gets a two count. Ishii throws a series of elbows. Okada with a dropkick. Okada hits a tombstone and locks in the Money Clip. Ishii crawls to the ropes. Okada goes for another tombstone but Ishii reverses into a release German suplex. Okada with a backdrop, Ishii holds on, and Okada drops into a pin. Two count as Ishii kicks out. Pace picks up. Okada avoids a Sliding Lariat and locks in the Money Clip. Ishii breaks the hold and hits a DDT. He holds on to trap Okada in a Hammerlock submission. Okada gets to the ropes. Ishii charges at Okada, who catches him and puts him on the top rope. Okada goes for a dropkick which he hits, but his body lands on his arm. Okada writhes in pain and Ishii comes off the top rope with a knee to his neck. Ishii with a Sliding Lariat. Two count. Okada with a tombstone. Both men and exhausted. Okada grabs the wrist of Ishii. Ishii hits Okada with headbutts and a jumping high kick. Okada hits a dropkick. Okada with a rolling lariat and applies the Money Clip. Ishii gets to his feet and Okada tries to hit a backbreaker. Ishii rolls out and smashes Okada with a headbutt. Ishii with a lariat. Two count. Both men have a series of reversals. Okada applies the Money Clip but Ishii hits a Codebreaker. Okada hits a lariat, and holds on for a Rainmaker. Ishii ducks the Rainmaker but Okada hits a dropkick. Okada applies the Money Clip. Ishii powers out, but Okada hits a backbreaker and locks the Money Clip in again. Ishii passes out. Okada wins and earns two points.
Good match. Okada is now in a three way tie for the lead of A Block with Jay White and Kota Ibushi with 12 points each.
