JON MOXLEY VS. CHRIS DICKINSON, TOM LAWLOR VS. HOMICIDE, DAVEY BOY SMITH JR. VS. JOSH ALEXANDER & MORE: 10/11 JOSH BARNETT'S BLOODSPORT REPORT

GCW “Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport”

The Collective 2020: Part 11

10/11/20 - Indianapolis, IN

Another staple of these mega-show weekends is upon us. It’s time for GCW’s version of the Kumite. No ropes. All matches won by KO or Submission. A 4-women Bloodsport tournament. A once in a lifetime Bloodsport main event between Dirty Daddy Chris Dickinson and AEW Champ Jon Moxley. My brain is wired on caffeine and 3 days of wrestle shows. Let’s goooooooooooooo!

We start by bringing out all the competitors for tonight’s matchups. Huge pop for Moxley. This is actually happening! Josh Barnett is out to thank the crowd and we roll into our first matchup...

Match 1: Simon Grimm vs Matt Makowski

Makowski aggressive with strikes and leg kicks. Grimm with a takedown. Gator roll out of the ring. They have a 10 seconds to return. Grimm catches a kick. Makowski kicks to the ribs. Grimm with another takedown but Makowski has his back and. A waist lock. Grimm rolls through, Makowski gets to his feet. Grimm trying to kick out the legs. Makowski moonsault into a front face lock but Grimm rolls into an arm lock. Headbutt from Grimm. Matt with a punch and he lets Grimm to his feet. Cartwheel kick to Grimm’s head and he looks stunned but he immediately tackles and goes to the wrist lock. Makowski reverses and works to a cross arm breaker. Grimm trying to throw leather but Makowski traps the neck. Leg grapevine and Grimm climbs through Makowski’s guard to throw more punches. Grimm with an enziguri but Makowski slams him into full mount and drops bombs. Back to their feet and trying their standup again. Makowski scores with a high kick to the head and he’s down. Ref checks on him while Makowski waits for him to rise. Makowski slams Grimm to the canvas. Trading submissions, Grimm slips out and hit Makowski with a snap german suplex. Makowski hits his head and goes limp. Ref calls it off! Grimm finally gets a win at Bloodsport!

Winner: Simon Grimm (by KO)

Match 2: Allysin Kay vs Killer Kelly (Women’s Tournament Opening Round)

Kelly trying for a double leg, Allysin gets a front face lock. Kay gets a leg but Kelly lands a strike to the face. Kay with a judo takedown and works a kimura. Kelly gets back to her feet and out of Kay’s grip. Kay with a double leg takedown and right into side control. Kelly slips out of the wrist lock and throws short elbows to the ribs. Trading kicks and Kelly trips up Kay and takes the back, landing cross face punches. Allysin with another takedown and gets the leg. Kelly climbs through and lands a few unprotected punches to Kay’s face. Kelly checking her knee. Kelly shoots but gets stuffed into a half Nelson. Crowd chanting for Kelly as she gets back into it. Kay with a push kick and raining punches down on the Killer. Too close to the due and the ref stands them up. Kelly swarms with punches but Kay flips it into a cross arm bar. Kelly breaks free with more punches but Kay’s legs keep pulling her down. Kelly continues climbing through the ankle lock and she’s throwing punches again. Kelly screams as Kay clamps down on the ankle again. Trading shots from a seated position and then work to their feet again. Crowd clapping for both. Kay with a spear and working the arm again. Kelly trying to pop the hips out, she hops onto Kay’s back with a rear naked choke. The bigger Allysin Kay crumbles but rises and falls back to break the choke. “I want you on your feet” says Kay. Kelly with clubbing blows and a butterfly suplex. Kay with kick to the head and she rag dolls. Kay with elbows to the head. Kelly picks her up but Kay rains down more shots and traps Kelly neck in a triangle choke. Killer Kelly’s eyes widen as she is forced to tap out. WOWWWWWWW. This was great.

Winner: Allysin Kay (by Submission)

Match 3: Leyla Hirsch vs Lindsay Snow (Women’s Tournament Opening Round)

Scrambling for the opening minute, blocking takedowns. Hirsch on top but Snow trying to pull in an arm breaker. Snow makes room with her foot and we’re back up. Hirsch is a backpack so Snow plants her on the canvas and does for an ankle lock. Hirsch slips into an arm triangle but Snow quickly exscapes and works one of her own. Hirsch slips out and goes behind and tries for a rear naked choke. Leyla with a few bombs that may have woken Snow up. Snow with a suplex. Leyla with a double leg and throws and elbow. Hirsch wants the arm again. Hirsch ducks a kick and lands forearms but Snow with a kick to the back of the head that staggers her. Snow with a slam and goes into a heel hook and Hirsch taps right out. Snow just OWNED Leyla Hirsch. Absolutely badass. Where in the hell has Lindsay Snow been hiding? Allysin Kay will have her work cut out for her.

Winner: Lindsay Snow

Match 4: Alexander James vs Calvin Tankman

Tankman is the OVERWHELMING crowd favorite here. Tankman takes mount. James wants the leg and they roll to the edge. Calvin powering him to the ground and trying to flatten him out and take his breath. Full mount and Tankman throwing punches and elbows from the top. James weathers it and rolls though to mount. James gets the back of Tankman and pulls him down into a rear naked choke. Tankman rolls through and retakes the top position. James trying to lock up the arm. James escapes Tankman’s mount and dropping hammer fists and elbows to the back of the head. Calvin powers him up and Samoan drops him down. Standing position, Calvin lands a few shots. Back to the ground, James on top and working a cross arm breaker. Tankman rolls to the top and takes a ton of elbows to the head while locking in a triangle. Calvin picks him up. Trading fast strikes in the stand up. Tankman with several knees to the head, James is down, Tankman with a falling punch to James’ face and the ref immediately stops the damage. Crowd erupts for their guy.

Winner: Calvin Tankman

Match 5: Erik Hammer vs Kal Jak

Hammer is dropped on the first swing. Pops back up with some of his own and Kal Jak takes him down. They scramble more and Hammer able to work a arm lock. Ref break to their feet. Jak takes Hammer down and lands heavy shots to the back. Hammer with back elbows to the jaw rocks him. Hammer with a running knee and applies a headlock. Jak wants the leg, Hammer stuffs in a punches at the ribs. Hammer cranking on the neck deep. Jak weathers it and rolls through to top position. He gets a shot in but Hammer escapes and gets a standing front face lock. Jak picks Hammer and slams him down. Hammer able to take the back and throws knees to the side. Cross face arms strikes and Jak with a gut wrench doctor bomb. Jak can’t do anything with it and Hammer goes for a wrist lock. Jak with knees to the side and another gut wrench slam. Jak working another wrist lock, Hammer slips through, traps the head and locks up the arm and wrist. Jak taps out as hammer jerks it free. Tough fight between strong men. Hammer is Barnett’s student so he did his teacher proud.

Winner: Erik Hammer (by submission)

Match 6: “Filthy” Tom Lawlor vs Homicide

There’s no way this is pretty. Lawlor trying to chase down Homicide and tie him up. Homicide throws the bird as Lawlor starts throwing kicks. Homicide takes his bandana off and starts walking through Lawlor’s strikes. Homicide with chops and a headbutt. Knee from Filthy Tom and throwing punches and forearms. Homicide is down. Lawlor with a running kick and Homicide catches the leg. Homicide working a STF. Lawlor goes for the wrist. Homicide fighting out and back suplexes him almost off the ring. Homicide cranks on the ankle and throws headbutts. Slaps back and forth right in the pocket. Lawlor takes a step back and Homicide with a flying headbutt to the abdomen. Homicide with more headbutts and knees to the face. Homicide traps the arm and throws elbows from behind. Homicide has the back and throwing punches. Lawlor rolls into guard but landing punches to the midsection. Lawlor gets the leg but Homicide to his feet and stomping Lawlor’s face over and over. Lawlor has time to recover and spears Homicide down and pulls up into a front face lock. Ref gonna stop it? Homicide grabs the ref to say hell no. Homicide with an exploder suplex! Lawlor tries another spear but runs instead into a knee. Back and forth, Lawlor locks in a DEEP leg lock and Homicide has to tap out. YESSSSSSSSS. This was really awesome! This may have stolen the show....if not, they definitely set the bar way higher for the final matches.

Winner: Tom Lawlor (by Submission)

Match 7: Davey Boy Smith Jr vs Josh Alexander

Fast scrambling between them on the ground. Alexander throwing elbows to the ribs while Smith trying to work the ankle. Smith trying for an arm breaker as Alexander climbs into guard to throw shots. They roll and Alexander rolls off the apron while Smith has him locked up. Ref break and that prolly saved Josh. Back to the ground, Josh in guard and trying for punches. Smit back up and throws Joh back down into a wrist lock. Transition to a rear naked choke attempt but Josh escapes to the ankle. Smith counters into a SHARPSHOOTER??? Josh break free and throws knees. Trading forearms, Alexander sent to the canvas and pops back up on wobbly legs as he eats forearms and a kick. Ref letting it go. Smith with a sit out powerbomb and Josh Alexander is OUT. Bag him and tag him. Wow, Smith was a dominant beast here. DEFINITIVE finish. Damn.

Winner: Davey Boy Smith Jr (by KO)

Match 8: Allysin Kay vs Lindsay Snow (Women’s Tournament Finals)

Tentatively feeling each other out in the opening seconds. Kay takes Snow down but loses control. Snow gets the leg but Kay uses her long legs to smash Snow and break the hold. Snow back to the ankle but Kay is keeping composure. Snow takes the back and throws some knees to the back. Kay breaks free but loses her arm briefly. Snow back to the ankle and talking smack to Kay. Snow dropping bombs but traps a triangle. Kay forces some distance. Snow wants the leg again but eats a knee. Roll to mount and throwing elbows. Kay is still calmly working out of the hold. Snow quickly transitions down to a heel hook. Kay’s calm breaks immediately, she screams and taps out. WOW! Where are Lindsay Snow been hiding and why is she not beating up people everywhere? ??

Tournament Winner: Lindsay Snow (by Submission)

Main Event: Jon Moxley vs Chris Dickinson

Heeeeeeeeeeere we goooooooooo. BIG FIGHT TIME. The crowd got their “Dirty Daddy” chants in but then Moxley showed up. Dickinson shoots but Mox stuffs it. Ref break at the edge, Dickinson with a slap. Mox sweeps but Chris pops up. Mox down into Dickinson’s guard and gets the arm, working a kimura. Dickinson fights to escape and get to the ankle. Mox takes a few shots and they both go for each other’s leg. Back to their feet. Dickinson with a front face lock and drags Mox down. Working the arm with the head trapped. Dickinson loses the arm and Mox dropping bombs. Dickinson pushes back to the edge and Mox takes him down briefly. Dickinson with a waistlock. Mox reverses and launches him off the ring to the concrete. Dickinson has a 10-count to get back to the platform. Dickinson holding his wrist. Mox in full mount and swinging. Dickinson’s head trapped in Mox’s legs. Escape and Mox back on top. Mox with a pair of overhand rights to the side of the head. Working the kimura again. Mox with elbows while DIckinson punches the ribs. Mox stomps the head and he’s stalking the Filthy Father. Mox with a shoulder block sends Dickinson back to the floor. Moxley going for a piledriver as Chris makes it back in. Dickinson with a waist lock and switch to a dragon screw. Heavy kicks to the legs as Mox is screaming in pair. Deadlift german suplex to Mox! Dickinson kicks to the back. Dickinson has a kneebar but Moxley rolls them outside to force the break. Dickinson back in first. Both guys wobbling and trading punches. Back and forth fists and staggering. Moxley needs the post for support. Forehead to forehead. POUNDS OF CHOPS. Mox with a headbutt. Chris to a knee. John wants more. Dickinson with kicks and chops. Dickinson with a belly to back suplex. And another! Mox up again into a high kick from Dickinson. Dickinson raining down left and rights. He goes for an arm bar but Mox pulls him up. Frontt face lock. Knee strike. Suplex. Mox behind with a deeeeeeeept choke and Chris Dickinson fades to black. PHEW. What drama. That was awesome. Both these guys just gave everything they could here. Dickinson lost a lot of exposure when his Wrestlemania week in April went away. He just got such a rub here working a rare indie date with the AEW Champion.??

Winner: Jon Moxley

And that’s it for Bloodsport! It’s not your normal wrestling show. It’s a different beautiful violent animal. Dickinson/Moxley were hands down MOTN. Homicide/Lawlor a close second. This crowd loves them some Calvin Tankman. But again, LET’S SEE MORE LINDSAY SNOW. 

The Collective 2020 has one more show to go. Paradigm Pro’s “Trap Soul” at midnight. One more cup of coffee. Until then!
