By Adam Cardoza on 2020-10-11 00:16:00

“Joey Janela’s Spring Break 4”

The Collective 2020: Part 7

10/10/20 - Indianapolis, IN

It’s time for the show that doesn’t NEED to make sense. I don’t know if my brain is ready for this. We have a video of Joey Janela going into a convenience store. He gets yelled at by the clerk. He makes eye contact with a customer and the main event idea is born. Joey Janela vs Ricky Morton.

Here we go!

44OH! Is hear for GCW champ Ricky Shane Page’s Open Challenge. He announces he found his own opponent, a student at Matt Tremont’s school, Marcus Mathers.

Match 1: Ricky Shane Page vs Marcus Mathers

RSP says it was a joke. Mathers is sent back disappointed. Poor kid. Any airtime is good? RSP’s real opponent is the son of ECW Legend 911....it’s 411....or as he’s actually known, Big Dom. M

Match 1: Ricky Shane Page vs Big Dom

44OH clubs him down at ringside and RSP sends him on his way. This is supposed to be an open challenge...and music hits...it’s DANHAUSEN!!!!

Match 1: Ricky Shane Page vs Danhausen

Oh wait...no. 44OH is beating down Danhausen too. So much for that. New music hits! IT’S FORMER IWTV CHAMP AND AEW STAR ORANGE CASSIDY!

Match 1: Ricky Shane Page (w/ Atticus Cogar, Eric Ryan, Gregory Iron & Eddie Only) vs Orange Cassidy (non-title)

This looks like a real match that’s happening!!! Both powder. 44OH throw Cassidy back in the ring and he rolls through. He tries again but RSP puts a down to stop him. Small package on RSP for two! Hands in pockets. It’s like RSP doesn’t watch the tapes and is flustered by Cassidy’s pocket defiance. Shotgun drop kick and kip up with hands in pockets sends RSP to the floor. 44OH gangs up on Cassidy while RSP distracts the ref. RSP toying with Orange and stomping him out. Cassidy with the weird slow slaps and shin kicks. RSP tries a lariat but Cassidy with a suicide dive to the goons. Cassidy with a coffin drop to 44OH. RSP tries to put Cassidy away with Nick Gage’s chokebreaker but he kicks out. Gregory Iron in to hold Cassidy for a juice mist. Cassidy breaks free and kicks it into RSP’s face. Blinded, RSP is caught in the mousetrap for three.

Winner: Orange Cassidy

The pop was HUGE for Cassidy’s return. They hate RSP a lot so this was extremely cathartic for the crowd. Great classic Cassidy mix of clowning and speed. RSP is so damn hateable. This was a great match that played to both of them.

We get an impassioned promo video of Matt Tremont talking about his final match at GCW tonight against Alex Colon. This is gonna be a bloodbath. BUT THAT’S LATER. What’s now?

Match 2: IronBeast (KTB & Shane Mercer) vs The Rascalz (Zachary Wentz & Dezmond Xavier)

Well this is gonna be awesome. Speed vs power. The Rascalz come out hot and throw themselves all-in to smash their beastly opponents. KTB catches Wentz and throws him into Xavier. KTB belly to bellys Xavier into Wentz and IronBeast is going for the doors. Xavier wants none of that and cuts off with a drop kick. Superkick to Mercer from Wentz but Mercer plucks him up and tosses to a KTB powerbomb. Tandem charges into Xavier and a huge lariat and a KTB flying headbutt that sends him to the concrete. The Rascalz are taking a lot of punishment. Wentz with a head scissors sends IronBeast crashing into each other. Xavier in to kick the lights out of KTB’s eyes. Xavier decks Mercer as Wentz hits a bunch of running drop kicks. They try to hit dives but IronBeast catches them and does a press slam Super Collider. OW. They try a doomsday devices but Xavier flips out of it. Mercer uses KTB for a Moonsault powerslam for two. FIRE UP THE GIF MACHINES! Rascalz working over KTB with kicks and stomps. Mercer dropped with a knee and the Rascalz hit and absolutely sick push moonsault. IronBeast gets the doors. Xavier through a door. Wentz gets slammed and passed back and forth between the members of IronBeast, finally succumbing to a german from Mercer.

Winners: IronBeast

The Rascalz are always a good watch but OH MY GOD THIS IRONBEAST TEAM IS GREAT. The teams went all out for this wild match, turned up to 11.

Match 3: Lee Moriarty vs Jonathan Gresham

I forgot this was happening!!! After Moriarty’s match with Makabe yesterday, I’m even more hype for this. Moriarty tries to wrestle Gresham and is doing well but Gresham is so smooth and gets a fast pin attempt. Gresham has a hammerlock and Lee can’t quite get out. He uses him leg as a lock pick, to the surprise of Gresham. Moriarty tries to wear down Gresham’s wrist with holds and kicks. Working the arm with a bridge into a pin attempt. owwwwww. Working the arm more and Gresham has to go to the ropes. Lee is owning the opening minutes. Did Gresham overlook his opponent? Moriarty goes for pins but Gresham bridging out. Gresham finally gets ahold of Lee’s arm and is giving him a taste of alllllll that twisting and stretching. Several quick pin attempts to remind the crowd just who the hell Jonathan Gresham is. A break in the stretching and Moriarty is able to kick out Gresham’s arm and hit a double stomp to the face. Both are nursing their shoulders. double stomp to the arm of Gresham. Moriarty wrenching an arm lock and Gresham desperately grabbing for the rope. Both guys are cautious now. Gresham sweeps him off the apron, kicks the arm and drop kicks him to ringside. Moriarty is slow to return to the ring. Gresham brings him down for another series of arm submissions and fast pin attempts. Exchanging heated words as they take shots at their injured arms. Gresham gets caught in a deep kimura and struggles from one side of the ring to the other to get the break. Trading wild forearms. Rolling elbow! ENzugiri! Gresham with several shots to the back of the head and Moriarty will not die! Gresham finally going for the octopus lock and he locks it in. Dropping hammer fists and Moriarty taps out as he collapses.

Winner: Jonathan Gresham

Is it any wonder that Lee Moriarty has more than one of my favorites matches of the weekend? It has been a hot second since I’ve seen Gresham work and he is a sight for sore eyes. This match. Damn. This was really good. Lee Moriarty is REALLY GOOD. Gresham on the mic agrees with that assessment and demands Moriarty shake his hand. They shake and it was good. Wow.

Match 4: Jordan Oliver, Alex Zayne & Blake Christian vs Team Pazuzu (Chris Dickinson, Ortiz & Santana)

Oh this is wonderful. Dickinson must be ecstatic to get the boys of EYFBO back for a night. Dickinson opens with Christian, scrambling for position, in a rematch of the Acid Cup 2 final. Dickinson offers a free shot and lays Blake out with a chop. Ortiz and Santana working Christian over while his partners look on powerless. Santana with an inside out lariat. Zayne tries to help but Blake continues taking so much punishment from Pazuzu. Pazuzu, not content to just beat up Blake Christian, drag Oliver and Zayne off the apron and beat them down at ringside. Dickinson busting up Christian’s legs on the ring post. Dickinson with a half crab that he pulls up into a leg trap piledriver. Owwwwwww. Ortiz with a stretch muffler that he holds in his teeth. Blake is ALL HEART and trying to battle back against Dickinson. Blake picks up speed and hits counter after counter and dazes the Dirty Daddy with a german. Zayne and Oliver FINALLY run interference to hit a cutter and shooting star knees to Dickinson. Oliver and Zayne run interference on Santana & Ortiz while Christian slowly rolls to make the pin....Dickinson out at 2. Zayne in against Dickinson in a chop battle. Zayne tries to flip away but Dickinson has a lariat that stops him cold. Powerbomb and german, Zayne out at 2. DVD and a frog splash from Ortiz leads to another kick out. Oliver and Christian grabbing the legs while Zayne hits an enziguri on Santana and tags in Christian. He beckons the Filthy Father to him and the slap the crap out of each other. Oliver takes over and hits a lariat to Dickinson. Oliver and Zayne deal with Ortiz and Santana again. Blake with a 450 but he hits the knees. Dickinson with a lariat. Kick out! Chris Dickinson hits the Pazuzu Bomb and stacks up Christian for the pin.

Winners: Team Pazuzu

This was a public execution. The heat on Blake was methodical and yeah, he gutted it out....but Pazuzu was ridiculously on fire tonight. The initial heat section MAY have gone a little long but I can’t blame Pazuzu for being in the moment with how well they work together. Pazuzu puts their opponents over on the mic after.

Match 5: Tony Deppen vs Alex Shelley

Deppen wants this match to take him to the next level. Deppen is trying to break down his opponent with strikes and submissions. Deppen wants a dragon screw but eats feet instead. Deppen’s legs swept off the apron but Deppen flips back into the ring right into a rear naked choke. Deppen is staying ahead of Shelley and working the knee. Deppen wants to target the knee so much, Shelley introduces it to Tony’s face. Shelly with a wrist lock and chopping him down repeatedly. Trading knees and shots. Both guys are wobbly. Deppen with an STF but Shelly gets the rope. Deppen with a double stomp and he’s hyping up. Shelly trapped into the buckle and Deppen throws a knee and pulls out the legs. Shelly with a superkick but Deppen is eating it. Two more superkicks and an air raid crash and Deppen it out at one and up. Shell shock to Deppen. Kick out! Motor city stretch! Deppen spins it through several roll up attempt and finally catches him for three.

Winner: Tony Deppen

Deppen got his dream match and WON! A hard fought methodical chess match. Shelley looked great, of course but Deppen is an absolute madman.

Match 6: Lio Rush vs ACH

These two are going to war. It’s pretty even to start but ACH is proving to be more powerful as we move on. Backbreakers, kicks, arm locks, Lio Rush is being forced to rely on his flow and speed to keep up. Rush tries to go toe to toe but ACH keeps chopping them down. ACH on the apron, Rush hits a handspring kick and the pace is picking up. Handspring elbow and a bottom rope springboard stunner. Yessss. Rush to the top but ACH kicks the legs out and superkicks him. Rush slips suplex but ACH catches the follow up handspring into a german. Rush with a mule kick, dodges kicks but ACH with a double stomp to the back after a sweep. Trading shots but that’s more ACH’s game....but Lio Rush is firing up and taking it all. Rush with a dive to the outside and tries the springboard stunner but meets a drop kick to the back. Powerbomb pin attempt. German suplex from ACH. Spanish Fly from Rush. Frog splash! Rush gets the three!Winner: Lio Rush

These two just had a fantastic speed/power match. They shake hands and hug after. Fantastic high energy work. Crowd was super into this, especially as they built to the final flurries.

Match 7: Joey Janela vs Ricky Morton

At the age of 64, The Rock and Roll Express’ Ricky Morton take on the Bad Boy. Janela repeatedly works Morton to the mat and taunts the crap out of him. Morton catches him with a hip toss and a shoulder block that cause the bad boy to run off and drag a table back. Janela lands some straight right hands but Morton finally blocks one and sends Janela packing again. Morton gives chase but takes a kick to the gut. Trading chops and Morton hits a low blow. Janela with a chair shot to the gut. Setting up a table. Morton drags Janela up and piledrives him through the table. Janela up and pissed off. Hits Morton in the side of the face with a chair. Ricky Morton is busted open. Janela throwing shots wildly until Morton crumbles to the floor. Janela uses the moment to take shots at the man with the tennis racket, covering a fathead of him with Morton’s blood. Morton recovers to hit a DVD to the apron. Morton gets a door and sets it up in the corner. A defiant Janela throws the birds and whips Morton into the door. Brainbuster and Morton is forced to kick out. Janela throws the door on top and drops a top rope elbow. Morton kicks out! Janela trying to break down Morton’s knee with a part of the door. Figure Four locked in and Morton is stuck but get to the ropes. Joey wants it again but gets rolled up for two. Superkick and a kick out. Janela gets Morton on the top rope but Morton hits a destroyer. Janela kick out! Joey Janela goes for the figure-four! Ricky Morton flips it. Janela is stuck and taps out!

Winner: Ricky Morton

Janela proves time and time again that he can have an incredible match with anyone at any age. Morton more than did his part here but Janela went above and beyond to make this incredible. Also, this might be the first time I can remember where the figure four reversal led to a tap out! This was great.

And that’s Joey Janela’s Spring Break 4. It was almost 5 hours long. I enjoyed the whole thing but I have no idea how Freelance is going to run a show in the next 15 minutes. Take a night and watch this madness. Card pacing doesn’t matter. It’s all good. It’s all wild. It’s just big crazy show.

Next is Freelance Wrestling “I Don’t Think We’re In Chicago” at midnight....that’s in 7 minutes. *slaps face* I got this. See you in a few. Until then.
