Several days ago, PWInsider.com reported on WWE and UNICEF teaming their first-ever Spanish language campaign with Andrade as part of Hispanic Heritage month. Billy Krotchsen sent along a translation of Andrade's promo from that announcement:
"I'm WWE Superstar Andrade. We are all unique human beings. The story of your life is made up of all of the big and small details of your life. What's your story? Think about how you would describe yourself - you might begin with the people you spend the most time with. Do you have brothers or sisters? Who are your closest friends? Do you have a pet? Would you talk about your physical traits - your eyes, your hair, the freckles on your skin, the dimple on your cheek. You might use glasses that help you see, or headphones that help you hear, or you might use a wheelchair to help you get around. Your race or your physical characteristics that are similar to others, such as the color of your skin, are another part of your story. You might be Asian, Hispanic, Latino, Native American, Oriental, or of any color. You might also be multiracial which means that your family and ancestors come from two or more races. Your story also includes your passions and interests, like reading, dancing, playing sports, telling jokes, or taking care of the environment. All of these things, and so much more, make you who you are - it forms part of the story that you continue to create.
Nonetheless, some people might sadly take those details that make you so special and try to use them to make you feel like you aren't special. It's not right, but it can happen. There are some people who might take one part of your story and make it into your entire story, but what they are looking at is only one small part of your story. Typically, this part of your story has to do with your appearance, since it's the part that's easily viewed. How do you think that would make you feel? If the only thing people noticed when they looked at you is your hair color, your clothing, your skin color, your birth scar, your wheelchair, or your glasses? And if they ignored everything else that formed your story, do you think that that's correct? No. You are right, this is not correct. What do you think would happen if we looked at someone and only saw that part of their story, ignoring everything else? We probably wouldn't know some amazing things about that person. We'd also make that person feel sad or lonely. If we only focused on one part of someone's story, we would never know everything that makes them special or what we have in common with them or what we could learn from them.
Each one of us is very valuable and we deserve to be celebrated. Don't miss out on the opportunity of getting to know someone else because you are only focusing on one thing. You have so much to offer! We are so excited for you to continue to share your story with others and learn from everyone else's story."
