10/6 NEW JAPAN G1 CLIMAX 30 B BLOCK RESULTS

By James Kurokawa on 2020-10-06 21:13:00

Opening Match:

1.  Yota Tsuji vs. Yuya Uemura

Wrestlers battled to a draw.    I think some tournament matches will be going short.

B Block Tournament Matches:

2.  Hirooki Goto vs. Toru Yano.

Goto hit Yano to the back of his head.  Goto tied up Yano's legs and Goto rolled him up for a pin and two points.  Yano was complaining to the referee but to no avail.

3.  SANADA vs. Zack Sabre Jr.

Match started fast and became a wrestling clinic.  Too much to cover here.  SANADA locked in Skull End.   He lifted ZSJ up and over in a reverse suplex.  With ZSJ's legs on the ropes, SANADA hit a TKO.   SANADA then hit a moonsault for a pin!

Great match!

They announced 2020 World Tag League and 2020 Super Junior 27 both starting November 15 and ending on December 11.  Looks like they will be running them simultaneously.

4.   Juice Robinson vs. EVIL, with Dick Togo

EVIL attacks Juice at the bell.  Togo distracts Juice and pulls him to the outside.   They double team Juice and destroy his back with a suplex onto a stack of chairs.  Juice tried to fight back with a leg lariat and spinebuster.  Juice layed out Togo who kept interfering.  Juice hit a cannonball onto EVIL in the corner.   Juice hit a body press from the top rope for a two count.  EVIL hit a lariat and a stomp off the ropes.  EVIL missed a Senton, but Juice hit a Senton of his own.  Juice hits a Superplex, holds on then hits a Jack Hammer.  Impressive!  Two count only.   Togo hits Juice with a chair.  EVIL follows up with a lariat.  EVIL hits Darkness Falls.   Two count.  EVIL goes for Everything is Evil.  Juice reverses and tries for Pulp Friction.  EVIL reverses out and Juice hits a lariat.  Juice throws EVIL into Togo.  Juice hits EVIL with The Juice Box.  Two count.  Juice blocks a low blow and EVIL pushes him into the corner.  Juice hits him with an elbow.  Juice connects with a right fist.  Togo jumps on the apron.  Juice throws a Left Hand of God but EVIL ducks and connects with a low blow.  Evil finally hits Everything is Evil and gets a pin.

Good match.  Juice Robinson has been looking really good in this G1 Climax Tournament despite this loss.  He is showing he can compete with the best in New Japan.  His NXT days are definitely behind him.

5.  YOSHI-HASHI vs. Tetsuya Naito

The match went back and forth, both matching each other move for more.  YOSHI-HASHI gained the upper hand with a Head Hunter.  He hit a flipping plancha on Naito outside the ring.  He hit a top rope Head Hunter for a two count.   Naito fought back and connected with a Combinacion de Cabron.  YOSHI-HASHI rallied with  a running sit-down power bomb.  YOSHI-HASHI locks in the Butterfly Lock.  Naito gets to the ropes and gets a DDT on YOSHI-HASHI.  Naito hits Gloria for a two count.  Naito goes for Destino but YOSHI-HASHI counters with a Lariat.  They start throwing elbows and chops.  YOSHI-HASHI hits a shoulder breaker and applies the Butterfly Lock again. YOSHI-HASHI transitions into a sleeper, hits a back cracker and applies the Butterfly Lock again.  Naito is in trouble.  YOSHI-HASHI adds a Hammer Lock for more pain.   Finally, Naito gets to the ropes.   YOSHI-HASHI tries for a Bunker Buster but Naito slides out and starts hitting elbows.    YOSHI-HASHI slaps Naito and hits a Dragon Suplex.  Naito gets hit with Lariat.  Two count.   YOSHI-HASHI tries again for a Bunker Buster, but Naito slips out and hits a modified Destino.   Naito attempts another Destino but YOSHI-HASHI catches him on his shoulders, powers him into a Bunker Buster. Wow!  Naito barely kicks out at two.  YOSHI-HASHI goes for Karma.  Naito elbows him.  YOSHI-HASHI with a Super Kick and tries for Karma again.  Naito with elbows and an enzuigiri.  Naito with a spinning high kick.  Naito hits Valentia for a two count.  Naito gets a Destino for a pinfall win!

Great match!   Both wrestlers looked completely exhausted.  Naito takes the lead with 8 points in the B Block.  Naito poses with his foot on the chest of YOSHI-HASHI.

6.  Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. KENTA

KENTA avoids Tanahashi not wanting to lock up.  Tanahashi drop kicks KENTA who is outside the ring talking to the crowd.  KENTA drops Tanahashi throat first on the top rope.  KENTA hits him with a chop block on his knee.  KENTA hits Tanahashi's knee against the ringpost.  KENTA focuses his attacks on Tanahashi's leg, by locking in leg submissions.  Tanahashi counters with a Leg Whip on KENTA.  Tanahashi hits two elbows and hits a sunset flip off the ropes.  Two count.  KENTA with powerslam.  KENTA drops Tanahashi again by the throat on the top rope, and hits a clothesline from the top rope.  Two count.  KENTA applies a figure four leg lock.  Tanahashi makes it to the ropes.  They fight on the ring apron, throwing elbows.  KENTA hits a leg whip on Tanahashi off the ring apron to the floor.  Tanahashi is limping but is able to get back in the ring.   KENTA hits a mafia kick and a running dropkick.  Tanahashi gets a double stomp to the chest.  KENTA with a two count.  KENTA with another leg whip and a figure four leg lock.  Tanahashi slaps KENTA and he lets go of the figure four.  KENTA mounts Tanahashi and starts beating him with vicious elbows.  KENTA sets him up for a move, but Tanahashi catches him with a Slingblade.  They start throwing elbows and slaps.  KENTA goes for a draping DDT.  Tanahashi turns it into a leg whip in the ropes.   Another leg whip on KENTA and Tanahashi locks in a Texas Cloverleaf.  KENTA gets to the ropes.  Tanahashi beats him down and hits a running drop kick.  KENTA pushes Tanahashi into Red Shoes.  Tanahashi falls on Red Shoes.  KENTA splashes both Tanahashi and Red Shoes.  KENTA with a DDT.   KENTA leaves the ring to get his briefcase.  He smashes Tanahashi in the face with the briefcase.  KENTA lifts up Tanahashi and hits a wicked Punt Kick to his chest.  KENTA hits a Psycho Knee for a two count.  Tanahashi tries to fight back but KENTA connects with a knee strike.   KENTA goes for the GTS, but Tanahashi reverses out and hits Twist and Shout.  Tanahashi holds on and hits a second Twist and Shout.  Tanahashi holds on to hit a third one.  Tanahashi bounces off the ropes and KENTA eats a Slingblade.  Two count.  Tanahashi with High Fly Flow on a standing KENTA.  Tanahashi locks in the Texas Cloverleaf.  KENTA goes for the ropes.  Tanahashi drags him to the middle of the ring and sits down, screaming KENTA's name.  KENTA taps out.   The Ace gets the win!
