Donald Trump, 74, the President of the United States and a WWE Celebrity Hall of Famer announced overnight that he and his wife Melania have tested positive for COVID-19 and will be going into quarantine within the White House.
Trump was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2013 at Madison Square Garden by Vince McMahon, during which McMahon stated Trump might be a "Great President."
Trump's now-defunct casinos hosted Wrestlemanias IV and V in Atlantic City, New Jersey at what is now known as Boardwalk Hall. In 2007, Trump took part in Wrestlemania 23 in a bout where the losing billionaire would get their heads shaved in Detroit with Trump and Vince McMahon leading Bobby Lashley and the late Umaga into the ring respectively for a bout refereed by Steve Austin, which led to Vince's head being shaved. WWE paid Trump's Donald J. Trump Foundation charity organization in the $4 million range for the appearance.
In 2009, Donald Trump appeared on Raw for a storyline where he was revealed as the new owner of brand before promptly selling it back to Vince McMahon, including a stunt where the company refunded the entire live gate back to those attending a Raw taping. Those appearances led to another $1 million donation to Trump's charity.
After Trump was elected to the Presidency of the United States, he named former WWE President and CEO Linda McMahon to his Cabinet, heading up the Small Business Administration. McMahon left that position in 2019 to become Chairwoman for Super PAC aimed at getting Trump elected for a second term as President.
Obviously, the news of Trump testing positive for the virus has led to a massive amount of mainstream news overnight as it's just a few weeks away from the Presidential election here in the United States and Trump's handling of the COVID-19 pandemi - publicly downplaying the danger while at the same time going on record with reporter Bob Woodward about it's dangers and severity - have been controversial issues for a country still dealing with the political, economic and social ramifications of the pandemic.
