By Kendall Jenkins on 2020-09-04 12:31:00

Now that you know that CBD can help reduce pain, anxiety, seizures, and alleviate other health problems your pet may be experiencing you’re ready to start adding CBD oil to its health regimen. You can learn more about this by visiting us here.

What better way to get your dog to consume CBD oil than by putting it in a tasty treat. Forget about scouring the internet for vendors that sell quality CBD treats for pets. You can use CBD oil to bake CBD treats for your dog right from your kitchen.

How To Start Baking With CBD Oil

Quality CBD oil can be incorporated in a wide variety of tasty and savory treats for your furry friend. It is best to start off with a simple recipe. Baking with CBD oil can be tricky. Here are some helpful tips to ensure that you get it right.

Start Off Small and Increase in Increments

One of the biggest mistakes people make when they start baking cannabinoid-infused treatments that they add too much CBD oil to the batch. Your best bet is to make a small batch of dog treats and add a small dose of CBD oil to the batter. Also, it's very important to substitute the CBD oil with at least ¾ to 1 full teaspoon of an alternative oil like olive or vegetable oil. If the recipe calls for 4 tablespoons of vegetable.oil then you will add approximately 3 tablespoons of CBD oil.

Keep the Oven Temperature Low

As a general rule of them, when baking CBD dog treats you’ll need to keep the temperature low. This is very important because you don't want the CBD oil to evaporate which will ultimately reduce the benefits of the CBD oil.

A safe temperature for baking treats is below 340 degrees Fahrenheit. CBD has a boiling point between 320 to 356 Fahrenheit. Temperatures higher than 340 degrees Fahrenheit can result in:

  • Affect the flavor of the treats causing a sour or bitter taste that your dog won’t enjoy.
  • Completely damage the terpenes in the CBD which decreases its quality

Get the Math Right

Cooking with cannabinoids is a science and you’ll need to utilize your mathematical skills to get it right. If your goals are to incorporate a specific amount of CBD oil in each portion you use this simple equation to achieve the desired results:

Recipe yield x amount of CBD oil per serving = right amount of CBD oil to add to the recipe

The Cool Down

Once it's time to take the treats out the oven you should let them sit in a cool and dark environment. CBD is sensitive to light and heat. Letting them cool down in this type of environment will further add to their effectiveness.

Experiment with Different Recipes

Practice makes perfect. Once you’ve made your first official batch of delicious CBD oil treats for your pet don’t be afraid to try different recipes. Your dog will appreciate the variety. The more time you dedicate to making cannabinoid bake goods the better you will become at baking with the cannabinoid.
