Former WCW star Marcus Bagwell, 50, was hospitalized this past Sunday 8/16 with what were described as "serious injuries" by the Cobb County Police in Georgia following a traffic collision on Cumberland Parkway at 5:18 PM EST.
According to an announcement released on 8/18 by authorities seeking witnesses, Bagwell was driving a 2013 Chevrolet Tahoe while driving West on Cumberland Boulevard towards Cumberland Parkway in Cobb County. The announcement states that Bagwell lost control as he followed a curve in the road, striking the center median and a metal fence inside the median, before driving towards oncoming traffic on the opposite side of the road. The car then hit the curb before colliding a "free-standing bathroom" next to a bus station.
Bagwell was transported to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, GA with serious injuries. The announcement notes, "Investigators believe Bagwell was impaired by prescription medication during the collision."
Police are still investigating the incident.
Bagwell had a long run with WCW from the early 1990s through the demise of the promotion in 2001. He performed for WWE very briefly in 2001. He last wrestled in March at an independent event in Georgia. In 2012, Bagwell was hospitalized with broken bones in his jaw, neck and face after flipping his jeep in Georgia when going into a seizure while driving.

The Cobb County Police Department Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) Unit is investigating a serious injury traffic collision that occurred on Cumberland Boulevard east of Cumberland Parkway on Sunday, August 16, 2020, at 5:18 p.m.
According to investigators, a black 2013 Chevrolet Tahoe was traveling west on Cumberland Boulevard, approaching Cumberland Parkway when the driver lost control while negotiating a curve. The Chevrolet Tahoe collided with the center median and metal fence within the median before continuing west across the eastbound lanes. The Chevrolet Tahoe then collided with the curb before colliding into a free-standing bathroom at the Cobb County Transit (CCT) bus station.
The driver of the Chevrolet Tahoe, 50-year-old Marcus Bagwell, was transported to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital with serious injuries. Investigators believe Bagwell was impaired by prescription medication during the collision.
