WWE: WHICH MARKETS CAN YOU BET ON IN 2020

By Kendall Jenkins on 2020-08-14 08:33:00

WWE might have struggled with ratings in the first 6 months of 2020. But the betting action has seen no such dip, with more and more armchair gamblers switching on to this sport. In part, this is due to the theatrical and fun nature of pro wrestling, and the fact that most sporting action was curtailed around the world.

But which WWE markets can you actually make a wager on? We examined the biggest online bookies, taking a peek at the hottest wrestling markets available at the end of July 2020, and this is what we found.

Royal Rumble

The Royal Rumble takes place in the wintertime, with the next tournament slated for January 2021. Despite this, at the best online bookies you can still bet on the winner of both the men’s and women’s’ titles at next year’s event. Favourites to come out on top in this battle royal include Roman Reigns and Daniel Bryan in the men’s section, while Rhea Ripley and Ronda Rousey are the hot choices of betting fans in the women’s competition.

Summer Slam

The Summer Slam event take place in August every year and is currently the main event which the sportsbooks are placing front and center for wrestling fans. They rate Braun Strowman and Otis pretty highly, but neither of them can compete with Bray Wyatt. The bearded Floridian fiend is a very short-priced - 400 to walk away with the prize. Interestingly, this year’s event is set to be hosted in Orlando’s WWE Performance Center. Will the home crowd make this a slam dunk for Wyatt?

Smackdown

The Friday Night Smackdown tournament gets a lot of interest from WWE fans and gamblers alike. Airing on the FOX network, the Smackdown series is hosted at the biggest and best wrestling arenas from around the world. At the time of writing, punters could bet on female wrestlers like Bayley, Nikki Cross, Naomi and Lacey Evans, as well as the male Mexican fighter Gran Metalik.

TV ratings betting markets

But some of the most popular betting markets for WWE concern the TV ratings themselves. Yes – you can bet on the over/under for viewership for shows such as AEW Dynamite and WWE NXT. You can even bet on how popular these shows will be, relative to each other. For those of us who are bamboozled by the rules of wrestling, these TV ratings bets are a good way to get into the world of pro wrestling sports betting.

So, there you have it. Modern online bookmakers are creating some interesting and entertaining betting markets for the world of pro wrestling. Watching WWE shows with a small wager on can be a great way to increase the excitement and entertainment.
