WWE 2K INTERRUPTION NOT THE END OF AN ERA

By Kendall Jenkins on 2020-08-14 08:21:00

WWE 2K has been a must-have for gamers and WWE fans since the sports simulation video game series was first launched, in 2000. The series has captured the imagination of wrestling enthusiasts who have savored having the opportunity to get their fix online.

It's part of a growth in online gaming that has included series like Fortnite as well as online casino gaming on licensed sites like Comeoncasino.net. However, it's WWE 2K that is the talk of any wrestling mad gaming fans right now, after the announcement that 2K21 is postponed.

WWE 2K21 postponement

Normally, 2K21 would have been released in October 2020. However, it has been confirmed that it will not be released at any point this year. Initially, fans of the series were concerned about the fact that no new potential release date was announced.

However, it seems as though this is not actually bad news. The delay is due to an intention to make improvements to the game. This means that gamers can expect an even better experience than normal.

The wait will be worth it

Given the fact that 2K has welcomed industry stalwart, Patrick Gilmore, on board as Executive Producer, it seems likely that when the next instalment of 2K arrives it will be something special.

The delay also seems to have been a reaction to fans being less than impressed with the simulation game recently. 2K has made it very clear that fans are being listened to and the team at Visual Concepts will be working hard to create a fresh looking game that is appealing to long-term fans and new converts alike.

Hello WWE Battlegrounds

So, it seems as though it's good news about 2K21 in the long-term. There is also some shorter-term good news for fans as well.

WWE Battlegrounds is the new development from Saber Interactive; the team behind NBA 2K Playgrounds. The game is all set to fill the void that has been created by the delay to 2K21, when it's released in the Fall of 2020. The new game has a lot of the fun that 2K fans have been asking for.

It's also worth noting that the WWE Supercard mobile app is still very successful with wrestling fans and has been downloaded more than 20 million times. There are also more exciting developments for SuperCard due, in 2020 and beyond.

These developments around Battlegrounds and SuperCard are helping to maintain interest in the 2K brand and they are definitely good news for WWE and gaming fans.

WWE 2K21 has not been forgotten either. The brand is hoping that the new release will be ready for around the time that WrestleMania 37 takes place, in April 2021.

In summary

here was some concern when the postponement of WWE 2K21 was announced. Fans of the game thought that maybe the brand had given up on the title because it was in need of a refresh. This does not seem to be the case.

A revitalised 2K21 is set to be unveiled at some point. In the meantime, fans have Battlegrounds and SuperCard to keep them entertained.
