WWE CUTS THREE PERFORMANCE CENTER COACHES

By Mike Johnson on 2020-04-15 21:06:00

Kendo Kashin, Chris Guy/Ace Steel and Serena Deeb were all cut from the WWE Performance Center staff as Coaches today as part of WWE's cutbacks.

Guy, perhaps best known as the trainer of CM Punk and Colt Cabana, among others, was hired in October 2019 after he made an impression as a guest trainer earlier that years and was brought in to help produce and put together in-ring scenes for their Netflix family comedy The Main Event.  Guy, 46, had worked for Pro Wrestling NOAH, Impact Wrestling and Ring of Honor over the course of his in-ring career and was, at one point, under a WWE developmental deal after portraying Donald Trump in the ring on an episode of Monday Night Raw, competing against a wrestler portraying Rosie O'Donnell.  Guy originally broke into the business in 1991 through Chicago's Windy City Wrestling and was extremely close with the late Harley Race, working for him for many, many years in Race's WLW promotion.  Guy had just started going on the road to work as a Producer for the NXT brand before the shut-down of live events began.

Deeb, best known as part of CM Punk's Straight Edge Society on camera, had been working as a Coach at the PC since February 2018.  Deeb originally broke into the business in Ohio Valley Wrestling and was originally signed to a WWE developmental deal in 2009.  After her WWE run ended a year later after a planned angle where she would marry Punk in a Straight Edge Wedding was dropped, Deeb worked the independents before stepping away from the business.  She wrestled on the first Mae Young Classic tournament, setting the stage for a tryout as a PC Coach in January 2018, which led to her signing a month later.

Former IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion Kendo Kashin was hired in August 2019 as a Coach after a long career in Japan, including runs in New Japan and All Japan Pro Wrestling.  Kashin had been wrestling since 1992, primarily in Japan and Europe, although he also made appearances for Ring of Honor under a mask as Dragon Soldier B.  He had also competed for the Inoki Genome Federation, including a bout against Kurt Angle and fought MMA for PRIDE.
