By Kendall Jenkins on 2020-04-13 08:18:00

Sports is not only fun but extremely useful to our health. We choose different activities like tennis and golf to exercise but what about such sport as wrestling?

Benefits and flaws of wrestling in high school

Wrestling is not a common but still popular sport for all people, but what about high school students? This topic has already been discussed several times and is still debated in many teenagers` families. Some parents are sure that this is dangerous, some think that it may interfere with studies although many students prefer to get help and order essay online instead of struggling with all college assignments.

No matter what the reason is, wrestling is pretty attractive for students with its tournaments and national championships held all the time. If you are puzzled with the question «Should I do wrestling in high school?», in this article we will consider the advantages and main arguments against this kind of sport.

Key benefits and flaws of wrestling in school

For many students, wrestling is an appealing and often chosen sport as anyone can cope with it. You don`t have to correspond to a specific height, heavy weight or other parameters like in basketball, for example. All you need is your desire and the only limitation you might have is just facing wrestlers in the same weight category as you. Among key benefits of high school wrestling are:

-          It teaches you discipline, self-reliance, control and raises self-esteem;

-          You get leadership skills and a strong desire to be the winner;

-          It increases your chances to succeed in other sports;

-          You will be in fantastic shape;

-          You are able to defend yourself if necessary;

-          You will receive awards and get recognition.

Due to intense training, you will build and keep the strong muscle mass, your metabolism will increase and these workouts will keep you healthy and good-looking. Wrestling can also impact your college application showing that you are a responsible person capable of concentration and putting effort into your activities. Although you can always pay for your essay if you are overloaded with writing assignments or ask someone «Can you do my Statistics homework» in case of Math problems but you still demonstrate that you are supposed to perform well and become a great student.

 However, wrestling also has some disadvantages like:

-          Higher risk of injury;

-          Keeping the same weight;

-          No money-making opportunities;

-          Huge time investment;

-          Following health guidelines.

While female wrestling has recently gained popularity, women are getting more interested in fights and discovering their potential and physical strength. Should boys be facing girls in wrestling? For schools, this is rather uncommon and is still debated. There are usually separate teams for boys and girls in high school but in some situations, boys can compete girls at the national level championship. Just imagine how hurtful it is for a boy to lose a fight to a girl - thus, such competition will bring no good.

Another good question regarding wrestling as a teenager is the necessity of a coach. Do high school teams of wrestlers need a coach? Having an experienced coach can be one of the key elements of your success. Of course, you can train on your own but if you are a beginner, it is recommended to have someone next to you who can guide you on what you should do and tell you the basics of wrestling. The right start can ruin your mental barriers and physical limitations and you will become stronger and more competitive. Therefore, having a coach as your mentor will be a big plus.
