What do you think Vince's obsession with Bill Goldberg is? He has him come in and squash Brock Lesner, and now he has him come in an squash The Fiend. For most older WWE/F fans, the ones that would be most familiar with Goldberg, he's an overrated flash-in-the-pan WCW wrestler that doesn't deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as WWF mainstays from that era. Don't get me wrong, if Undertaker or Austin or Rock or Foley or even Hogan did it, I'd still hate it, but I could at least understand -- those were made guys for the old WWF glory days. But Bill Goldberg? I just don't get it.
Vince obviously likes him. Plus he is in very good shape for a guy his age and can still wrestle. You can’t really have Foley, Austin or Hogan to do that at this point. Even Taker has shown his age of late. Vince thinks he needs to go back to the future at WrestleMania and Goldberg is someone he can do that with. It’s the best explanation I can think of.
Undertaker vs. AJ Styles is a legitimate dream match in anyone's view. But, it's 2020, and given the stage of the careers of both of these men, especially Undertaker, what are your expectations for a Wrestlemania match between them, since that's where they appear to be heading?
Honestly? It’s not really a dream match to me. AJ is a smaller flyer. Taker is Taker. Plus he is older now. I honestly have no idea what to expect from them if they go that way. I just hope Taker can hold up his end at this point.
If we go into Wrestlemania with a mid-50 year old Goldberg as champion, how do you expect the fans will react to whatever match he is in? Would putting him vs. Roman be the kiss of death with regards to how the live crowd will react to that match?
It could be, or the hardcore fans that are at the show could hate Goldberg as the champ so much that they cheer for Roman. We shall see.
Is it any wonder people keep asking when the attitude era is coming back when Goldberg is champion again in 2020? And on what planet does having The Fiend lose for the first time to Goldberg make sense?
The Fiend loses in Vince McMahon’s world. As for The Attitude Era, we are getting a bit of it in AEW right now. Cursing. Blood. Chairshots to the head. They are doing it.
Just watched Best Friends vs Butcher and Blade on dynamite. Why was it not a dq when orange Cassidy Dove thru the ropes onto the Butcher? The ref was watching it happen they showed him on camera watching it go on.
For the same reason that a few weeks back the ref counted Frankie Kazarian as being pinned despite his shoulder being up at two, and his arm going into the ropes before three? The reffing, on the whole, is the biggest weakness of AEW right now.
