5 PROVEN TIPS AND TRICKS TO UPDATE YOUR OFFICE

By Kendall Jenkins on 2020-02-23 07:28:00

Are you looking for tips and tricks to update your office? We all admit that our offices get messy over time, making the working environment unpleasant. You might be looking to do partial fixes and not a full upgrade. Regardless of what you’re looking for, we’ve rounded up five tips to help you do a better office update.

1. Declutter Your Office

The first thing you want to do is to ensure you have an efficient working space. Meaning you need to look for better storage ways, smart organization ideas, and proper desk accessories that can give all the freedom. Eliminate stuff that you no longer need in the office. Some people find this process quite challenging because of being nostalgic – you must not let such things get on your way. You must figure out how you work and what’s most important. Bring in a small drawer with few compartments, say three, to reduce the load on your table. Be organized; there’s nothing that beats a tidy working space. Commercial storage is essential.

2. Define Your Brand

There’s a lot you can do in terms of defining your brand while updating your office. What’s your company all about? The best way to convey what you do is to use custom artwork on walls. Artwork should communicate to you and your clients. Put them at strategic positions where they can be seen clearly. If you can’t go for artwork, use your company logo and black and white photographs. They’ll still serve the same purpose – ensure that the visual illustrations are outstanding and use attractive fonts on logos. Defining your brand is even more effective on open space, reception area, or in the boardroom.

3. Improve Your Office Equipment and Furniture

We spend a lot of hours in our offices. Equipment and furniture play a significant role in everything that goes on in the office. What are you supposed to do with these things anyway? Well, while updating your office, use the latest equipment. For instance, are you using modern computers and computer software? If you stick to the old stuff, chances are you’re struggling to get things done because of speed and that affects your productivity. When we talk of furniture, ensure that you’re using a comfortable chair – we sit most of the time. Sitting in the wrong position has an impact on your health. Also, get good tables that have proper size and height.

4. Work on Your Office Walls

The working environment is compassionate and updating your office is not complete until you work on your walls. Numerous benefits come along an updated wall. From giving you motivation to keeping you focused. Dull walls are just demoting and do not promote productivity and creativity. How do you make your walls enjoyable? The first thing is the paint. Yes, and it’s not just any paint – try and get bright colors. You can opt to use temporary wallpapers if your time is limited or do not want to get into the painting thing. Another quick way to update your wall is by using wall fabric. It’s easy to put up and looks fantastic. There are many more ways to work on your wall –be creative.

5. Keep Your Office Files Organized

Creating space is not enough. Most of our daily office routine involves filing, whether it’s manual or computerized. We’ll often have completed projects, ongoing projects, and future projects. If we don’t put an organized system in place to manage projects and everything else, things will be in shambles and there will be chaos. We do not always want to spend long periods trying to locate a file. Below are tips for organizing your data:

  • Keep folders for current projects in a place you can easily reach

  • Have a consistent naming system so you can locate files quickly as needed

  • Ensure you name all your documents, spreadsheets and presentations appropriately

  • Label all the files with hard copy documents accordingly

  • Maintain a master index that allows quick access to files

  • Get rid of duplicate information, label shelves and cabinets so you can easily access essential resources.

Bottom line

The above tips can help you with updating your office and keep a friendly working environment. Other things that are worth mentioning include adding decorative lighting and having customized chairs. Also, invest in a recycling station to keep the environment clean, use some attractive flowers, and if you have enough space, include a piece of conversational furniture. Lastly, have a break room if possible – all work without play makes Jack a dull boy. Taking breaks during working hours is critical and should not be assumed.
