One of the most heavily anticipated boxing events of 2020 will see Tyson Fury meet Deontay Wilder in their rematch on Saturday, at which point the Gypsy King could be three stone heavier than the Bronze Bomber, according to William Hill Promo Code Guide.
Wilder’s WBC heavyweight title will be put on the line alongside The Ring and the lineal heavyweight belts, although this second duel is as much about bragging rights as it is about the material prices on offer.
Whereas Fury, 31, is regarded as one of the heaviest boxers in the division, 34-year-old Wilder is much lighter by comparison. That didn’t prevent the American from dropping his foe late in their first fight, though Fury famously got to his feet after dominating most of the rounds prior to that.
Wilder’s trainer, Jay Deas, told Sky Sports that Wilder’s nutrition suffered in the buildup to his first bout with Fury, not to mention he would have dropped significant weight during the fight:
"One of the problems with the first fight is that Deontay was so excited that he wasn't eating right. He came in unusually light. He was 209lbs (14st 13lbs) on fight night - by the time he knocked Fury down in the last round, he would have been a 200lbs (14st 4lbs), essentially a cruiserweight."
To put those numbers into context, Fury has weighed as much as 18st 11lbs (263lbs) in his past three fights—that was his weight when he stopped Tom Schwarz in the second round of their clash in June 2019.
It’s expected the duo will come out blazing in the rematch, with Fury a +105 (2.05) underdog to win with William Hill, who have Wilder listed as the -125 (1.80) favorite.
The weigh-ins for Fury vs. Wilder II will take place on Friday evening at around 6 p.m. ET (11 p.m. GMT), with the fight scheduled to begin ilate Saturday at around midnight ET (5 a.m. GMT).
