UFC Hall of Famer Tito Ortiz was at the WWE Performance Center last week in Orlando, Florida. PWInsider.com is told Ortiz's visit was something of an introductory meeting spread out over several days so Ortiz, a lifelong pro wrestling fan, and WWE could feel each other out and see if the two sides might be able to work together down the line. Ortiz did some pro wrestling training and familiarized himself with the WWE system while there. We are told it was very much a "let's feel each other out" sort of situation.
Ortiz told PWInsider.com a few months back while promoting his Combate Americas fight against former WWE Champion Alberto Del Rio that if he won the fight (which he did), he'd love to work with Brock Lesnar in WWE, commenting, "You know, I've seen that Cain Velasquez is taking the step over to develop pro wrestling, so that would be a good one. Or even someone like Brock Lesnar would be another good one, and vice versa. You come over here, I'd go over there. And you know, whatever they have for my future." The Wrestling Observer first reported Ortiz was at the PC.
Former WWE star Kenny "Dykstra" Doane was also at the WWE PC last week as well as the weekend WWE NXT events in Florida as he was working as a Guest Coach at the WWE facility last week.
EVOLVE star JD Drake worked for WWE NXT over the weekend. We have not confirmed if he has signed a WWE deal. We are told he is still slated for this weekend's EVOLVE events and will be exclusively appearing on the WWN-centric events at WRESTLexpo in Tampa over Wrestlemania 36 weekend.
Taynara Conti returned to WWE NXT action over the weekend after a hiatus as well.
