I noticed over the weekend that a lot of text content was behind your paywall.  Is there a reason for that?  I always thought that by reading the free site and clicking on ads I was supporting the site.  Is that not the case?

First things first, yes if you click on ads you definitely support the site, and we appreciate it.  Thank you for doing that.  With that said, the ad companies don’t pay what they used to pay.  Rates have dropped so the ad companies just don’t bring in the revenue to the site that they used to.

That puts a strain on us here at the site.  Our goal has always been to give as much news and content as humanly possible, for free, to our readers.  We have always wanted to do that, and I believe we do a very good job of it.  Unlike most wrestling sites out there, we create content and actually break news, as opposed cutting and pasting.  It’s very cheap to pay someone to read other sites and repurpose what those sites report.  It’s a lot harder, and costlier, to work sources to be able to break the stories that the site consistently breaks.  Just like anyone else, we are people that need to be paid for the work we do, or we won’t be able to do it.

Luckily, we also have the Elite version of the site, the paywall that you referenced.  To be perfectly honest, the support that we get from our great Elite members allows us to make all of the free content available that we are able to post on the site.  Their subscriptions are what keep us in business, and allow us to break the news to the masses that we  do on a consistent basis.

Because of that support, we want to give back to them by supplying extra content and giving them the hot news as soon as humanly possible.  Elite members are the reason we are able to do what we do, and provide all of the content that we provide.  It’s always been my goal to give them more than they pay for, so part of that initiative is to give them even more content than we have been.  That means in addition to all of the audio shows and ad-free access that comes with their subscription, we want to give them more bang for their buck since they are the reason we are able to do what we do.  That is the recent content you have noticed.

To be perfectly blunt, the more Elite members we have, the better off the site is so we want to thank those that support us by giving them as much content as possible.  I realize that a lot of people that read the site don’t think about the business end of the site so thanks for giving me the opportunity to explain it.  

In a nutshell, we appreciate folks like you that support the site though clicking ads.  If you can, we’d appreciate it even more if you could become an Elite member.  We offer a three days free option for you to try things out and get access to all of the content.  Also, at the top of the page you will see an offer that will give you Elite access through the Raw after WrestleMania for a discounted price.  Those options give you the chance to try Elite for free or at a discount, and give you access to the things behind the paywall that you mentioned.
