MAJOR LEAGUE WRESTLING NEWS AND NOTES

By Mike Johnson on 2019-12-09 10:54:00

We are told there will be meetings this week in Los Angeles that will have a big impact on the future of the company if all goes well.

There will be an announcement later today regarding the promotion's 2/1/20 return to Philadelphia at the 2300 Arena.

Tickets for the promotion's 7/16/20 return to the Melrose Ballroom in NYC will go on sale this Friday.

Dave Sahadi was at this past Thursday's MLW taping working on production, as he does regularly.  Sahadi recently announced a full-time return to Impact but is doing double duty working for MLW.

The Opera Cup event was very much seen as a success internally.  It will be an annual event for the company going forward.  Harry Smith and gifted possession of the Cup to MLW over the summer  The 104 year old trophy was restored by Betteridge Jewelers of Greenwich, CT with the promotion receiving it back the dat after Thanksgiving following a three-month restoration process.

The promotion was thrilled with international coverage the event received in Japan via Weekly Fight, specifically thanks to photos from the legendary George Napolitano, who was shooting ringside.

MLW's Court Bauer had a a lot of praise for Brian Pillman Jr coming out of the tournament as it was the first time Pillman had to work three matches in one night.  Pillman was exhausted and pretty beaten up after the tournament final.  Bauer felt the night was Pillman's "breakout moment" within MLW and that he ascended to the next level with his performances.

American Top Team were backstage at the show.

Alicia Atout received rave reviews from the production crew and talent who worked with her.  MLW is very happy with her work thus far.

As noted over the weekend, MLW has removed all mention of ACH from their website so as to not false advertise him after ACH lashed out online at fans and claimed to be retiring.  He is featured in one bout that was taped last week in NYC for MLW TV, but whether it airs remains to be seen.

Scheduled for Saturday's MLW FUSION TV on BeIN Sport:

*Opera Cup Opening Round: MLW National Openweight Champion Alexander Hammerstone vs. MJF with Richard Holliday.

*Opera Cup Opening Round: Davey Boy Smith Jr. vs. Low Ki.
