FITNESS INSIDER WARNS ABOUT THE DARK SIDE OF THE SUPPLEMENT INDUSTRY

By Kendall Jenkins on 2019-10-28 19:10:00

Every single day, Americans use supplements like Vitamin D and green tea extract, in an attempt to live a healthier, more fit lifestyle.

In fact, the supplement industry was worth over $122 billion in 2016, and it has continued to grow every since. Despite the sheer size of the industry however, many insiders are concerned.

With scammy supplement companies and fly-by-night pill salesmen, it’s clear that the FDA doesn’t possess the resources to investigate every single company out there.

One man, Jon Anthony, warns about the potential dangers and side effects of these supplements, particularly in the pre-workout and testosterone boosting niches.

“It’s crazy what some of these guys are doing,” he says. “It should be downright illegal. Some of these guys are literally lying about what’s in their products, which could harm consumers.”

He adds that this is especially problematic in certain areas. “You see a lot of this in the anabolic niche, like with SARMs, testosterone boosters, and the like. Guys will buy anything if they think it will turn them into superman, so it’s really easy to market this stuff to them.”

Jon runs a men’s self-improvement website, called Masculine Development, which focuses on helping men improve their dating lives, physical fitness, and overall approach to life.

“Some of the stuff they’re putting in pre-workouts nowadays is downright illegal,” he says.

“Take DMAA, for example, which was banned by the FDA almost a decade ago. Despite the fact that it’s illegal, tons of supplement companies still put it in their pre workouts.”

We asked him how this was possible, and he responded with the following: “The FDA doesn’t have the resources to investigate every single supplement company, so usually, by the time the FDA gets around to investigating them, they’ve pocketed millions and are already on the run.”

Unfortunately, this is all too common in the supplement industry. The ingredient DMAA was put into the limelight after several deaths were linked to a pre workout known as Jack3d.

“Jack3d used to be an incredible pre-workout, but for some people, it was just way too strong,” Jon says. “Don’t get me wrong – I’m all for using strong pre workouts, but people should at least know what they’re consuming, so they can make the right decisions.”

Jon has been involved in the fitness industry for years, and while he’s only 25 years old, he says that he’s seen a lot of things that would shock most individuals.

“I remember I was threatened with a lawsuit one time, after exposing how a supplement company was putting fake ingredients in their products,” he says.

“It’s crazy that they can get away with stuff like that. Then, to make matters worse, you have guys like Robert Tauler who are unethically extorting money from supplement companies.”

Robert Tauler, an attorney at law, has allegedly threatened to take numerous small supplement companies to court, and told them to either pay him thousands of dollars, or risk a lawsuit.

“Whatever supplements you decide to take, just be sure to do your research,” Jon says. “Don’t buy anything from a company that isn’t 3rd party verified – by an independent lab.”

“Most people don’t realize it, but 90% of the stuff they’re consuming is just laced with filler, and probably heavy metals. It saddens me to see how misled most people are about this.”
