NEW JAPAN ANNOUNCES EXPANDED UNITED STATES TOURING PLANS

New Japan officially announced its US subsidiary New Japan Pro Wrestling of America which will begin operations in November and be based out of the Los Angeles dojo in California. According to the English translation of the press conference on NJPW1972.com, the touring plans in the US for this new group will be as follows:

The touring structure for NJPW of America will see events being run in five key areas:

WEST: 6 cities across 4 states

MID: 7 cities across 6 states

TEXAS: 4 cities

SOUTH EAST: 6 cities across 4 states

EAST: 4 cities across 3 states

With this in mind, the plan will be for the majority of the US fanbase- some 70% (according to NJPW market research) will be able to attend an NJPW Event. 

Touring is the second phase of the plan for U.S. integration, the third is described as established the new company becoming ingrained in the fabric of wrestling fans consciousness.

During a Q&A with NJPW of America CEO Takami Ohbari, it was revealed that initial plans will see US events take place in between Japanese towards but simultaneous towards could be a possibility And goes on to say, there are no plans to lessen the number of Japanese events. 

In regards to the number of events the company will run, Ohbari thinks they can double the number of events in 2020, which were just 12 dates this year.

On the size of the venues, they will be running.  He states that they will be about 2,000 seat venues or lower depending.

On whether these events will be broadcast on New Japan World, he states as much as humanly possible. Where they can broadcast live, they will and where the event can be available on-demand they will do that as well.

New Japan Pro Wrestling of America will also looking to broadcasting events from their LA Dojo.

On the company's TV deal with AXS, it was stated that they would like to continue that relationship going forward, and hope to grow opportunities as more events happen for fans to see things live as they happen.
