ROMAN & BRYAN VS. HARPER & ROWAN IN A CAGE & MORE: 10/21 WWE IN SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA LIVE REPORT

By Vince Hellier on 2019-10-21 09:15:00

New Day (Woods & E) vs. Revival (c)

Woods went down injured early doing a leapfrog (ankle), ref with the X.  Big E takes the mic, says he will fight 2 vs 1.  Revival retain with a roll up by Wilder after E splashed an exposed turnbuckle.

Sami Zayn vs. Buddy Murphy

Pro Murphy crowd, despite him being from Melbourne (think Boston vs New York or Manchester vs Liverpool).  Multiple “Sami’s a wanker” chants.  Sami tried to leave, but brought back by Murphy.  Back & forth match, Buddy wins after reversing the Helluva Kick with Murphy’s Law.

The IIconics vs. Fire & Desire vs. WWE Women's Tag Team Champions Kabuki Warriors

Iiconics are from south west Sydney, so a HUGE positive reaction.  Kabuki Warriors retain after Sane & Asuka throw out the Iiconics who had just hit their double team finish on Rose.  Crowd was mixed on not seeing the locals win that one.

Randy Orton vs. Kofi Kingston

The crowd was almost entirely behind Orton, even booing Kingston when he mocked Orton’s pose while Randy took a powder up the ramp (perhaps this match was held in Sydney, Canada).  The crowd loved Randy, no matter what.  Orton dominated the match. The Revival came to ringside after Kofi had a foot on the rope when Orton hit the RKO.  Big E made the save, no Xavier Woods.  Kingston wins with Trouble in Paradise.

Intermission

NXT’s Daniel Vidot came to the ring.  Vidot is a former National Rugby League player here in Australia for the Canberra Raiders, St George Dragons, and Brisbane Broncos.  He was guest ring announcer for the next bout.

Mustafa Ali vs. Shinsuke Nakamura (c, with Sami Zayn) for the Intercontinental Title

Cue “Sami’s a wanker” chants again.  Ali is very impressive to watch live.  So far Zayn is the most hated wrestler tonight.  Ali dominates the match except when Sami interferes.  Nakamura retains after Ali chases Zayn around ringside, only to slide into the ring and straight into the Kinshasa.

Bayley (c) vs. Charlotte Flair for the SmackDown Women’s Title.

WOOOOO!  Sydney is Flair Country, sorry Charlotte NC.  Bayley came out with no video wall and a new theme.  Bayley attacked Charlotte during the introductions, then tried to leave when Flair got the upper hand.  Bayley retains after reversing the Figure Four into a roll-up with both feet on the ropes.

Luke Harper & Erick Rowan vs. Roman Reigns & Daniel Bryan in a Steel Cage (w. cage music).

Rowan & Harper lay some boots into Bryan while Reigns waits for his music to be queued up.  Tornado Rules. Bryan & Reigns pick up the pinfall win after a Running Knee & Spear combo on Harper.

And that concludes the WWE Sydney Live Event.  Bryan got the biggest pop of the night, with Zayn being the top heel.

Good night from Sydney, NSW, Australia!
