BETTING ON WWE AND WRESTLING

By Kendall Jenkins on 2019-10-17 16:23:00

You might think that betting isn’t possible on professional wrestling. The results of the matches are pre-determined (never say fixed, especially to anyone in the business) but betting companies do offer odds on major wrestling events.

WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) dominate the wrestling world. They have live shows on television every week of the year and have just launched their weekly Smackdown programme on the Fox Network.

Each month the company hold a major Pay Per View event that lasts at least three hours. These include events such as WrestleMania, Summerslam, The Royal Rumble and Hell in a Cell.

These are the events that bookmakers focus on. They will give odds on the main matches taking place involving wrestlers such as Brock Lesnar, Seth Rollins, The Undertaker and Randy Orton.

If you do want to place bets on WWE matches, it is important that you follow the storylines on shows such as Raw and Smackdown. This will give you an idea on which wrestlers are doing well at present. There are lots of online bookmakers who take bets on the WWE, and most of these also incorporate a online casino too where you can play some of the favourite casino games including Blackjack, online roulette, Baccarat and slots.

The backstage news is often extremely important when you are placing bets. It may be that some wrestlers are in favour with the bosses and winning more matches so are likely to get a win at the next big event. The more popular wrestlers become, the more WWE can earn in selling their merchandise.

WWE and other companies such as AEW and Impact aren’t always easy to bet on. Unless there are special stipulations in place (for example, a No Disqualification match), a champion can only lose their title by being pinned or made to submit.

This means that they could be disqualified or counted out and keep their title. Therefore, a bet on the challenger to win can be successful at good odds even if a new champion isn’t crowned. This can happen early on in a feud to keep it going for future events.

The Royal Rumble takes place every January but odds on who will win are available throughout the year.  The winners of the Men’s and Women’s Royal Rumble matches earn title shots at WrestleMania. Try and work out who the company are likely to feature in the top matches at their biggest show of the year. Keep an eye on the odds and if they do suddenly shorten, then it might just be that there has been a leak on the result.

Odds have also been offered on who might be the WWE or WWE Universal Champion at the close of the year. You can bet on who will be on the cover of their annual computer game. You can even get odds on whether Tyson Fury, who has recently been appearing on their shows will become a WWE Champion before the end of 2020.

Betting on wrestling can be as exciting as some of the matches but be careful. Shocks can happen and that can scupper your bets, just ask those who backed The Undertaker to beat Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania XXX.
