Clash of Champion event will feature every single championship and everyone on the roster are trying to book their place in the final show on Sunday. On Monday’s Raw that took place in Madison Square Garden, Baron Corbin reached the finals of the King of the Ring tournament. He pulled off a surprise by beating Samoa Joe and Ricochet.
Nobody considered him as a candidate for the final show, but he waited for the battle until he found his moment. And on the same night, Baron Corbin took out two favorites. Instead of potential great matches between Ricochet v Elias and Joe v Chad Gable that were expected, it won’t be strange if we see the battle between two most unlikely finalists of the Clash of Champions, Corbin v Gable. Being the most hated heel in WWE, anyone defeating Corbin will get a major pop and Gable has the chance of getting the biggest reaction of his career on Sunday. Betting interest on the WWE has also increased significantly as Betting Tips 4 You editor in chief has confirmed.
The Viking Riders, who are considered to be rising stars, secured their place at the major event by sticking it to The OC. The Universal Championship contract signing was interrupted again by The OC and The Phenomenal One took a stunner for it. AJ Styles than fought Cedric Alexander, but Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows caused a disqualification in order to save him. Then, The Viking Raiders joined forces with Braun Strowman, Seth Collins and Alexander to fight against Dolph Ziggler, Bobby Roode, and The OC.
Erik and Ivar are a great pairing and fantastic performers for The OC, and it wouldn’t be surprising for Gallows and Anderson to have their bets match in WWE with The Raiders. Although the tag team division is not on the winning ways, they are still talented group and we expect one of these teams to get back on track and become champions again soon.
After a surprising and questionable booking decision, Bayley fell in a tag team match alongside Sasha Banks. The newly reformed team has now totally lost its momentum. For the first time in months, Sasha Banks and Bayley teamed together against Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair, their Clash of Champions rivals. However, they couldn’t get the job done although they have been the more cohesive team. The Queen caught the Hugger with Natural Selection for the win. This was a great match and it easily could have been the main event of the show.
This was a must-win the match for The Boss N Hug Connection which could potentially prove that Lynch and Charlotte cannot find common ground. They could not afford the loss, but eventually, it happened. Now, she needs to build her credibility as a heel although the SmackDown women’s champion losing makes it highly, she will manage to defend her title. The returning alliance should be considered as unstoppable and not the one quickly falling to their first challenges. Instead of having a run straight to the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships, Banks and Bailey re-established the status quo. So, the question remains why any chance was taken in the first place.
It has almost been unnoticed how good a month Cedric Alexander has been having. Nobody expected from a man who could not get off Main Event to enter a series of great matches. He deservedly earned the chance to participate in his first-ever WWE pay per view being a member of the Raw roster. Although it is still not official, the fight which would have the most sense at Clash of Champions would be the one between Cedric Alexander and AJ Styles. The Phenomenal One didn’t notice that his next challenger snuck up on him after being focused on the Universal Championship. The United States champion should do a great job with the Lumbar Legacy after Ricochet and Styles already had a series of great matches together.
Cedric Alexander is definitely one of the best wrestlers on the roster, just like his underutilized 205 Live peers now working SmackDown, and he deserved his place at the main event rather than lounging away in obscurity. Everybody thinks that he will meet the expectations and knock it out of the park after WWE has given him a chance.
