WAYS TO PROTECT A GREEN CARD

Securing a green card is a dream for all immigrants in the United States. The green card is the permission of permanent stay in the country. A lot of procedures are expected to be done before the green card can be given to immigrants. One of the important procedures of the green card is accepting all the terms of the green card. A lot of immigrants who are opportuned to get the green card do misuse the liberty by going against the terms and conditions of the green card, which sometimes lead to getting deported even with the green card. There are various unbelievable ways by which immigrants do violate their green cards, and they include:

Document Fraud and altercation – one of the most common crimes by immigrants in the United States is document fraud and altercation. There are various reasons why immigrants indulge in the crime, but the most cogent one is document fraud to get a green card. Using a fake document or altercation of an original document is a popular way by which immigrants do get a green card even though it is very risky, but they do ignore the risk of getting deported. Presenting fake documents is a great crime that attracts court case and ends up making immigrants who commit such crime to spend a lot to get an immigration lawyer. Document fraud’s penalty is not always deportation as immigrants can also get other punishments like jail terms and fine.

Many immigrants do look for a quick way to get rich without weighing the consequences of such ways. This is why a lot of them do get involved in drug trafficking and smuggling. 

Terrorism – Terrorism has been a serious and common crime in the United States since the early 21st century. Terrorism is a crime that attracts very serious penalty regardless of the status of the criminal in the society.  The United States has faced terrorist attacks on several occasions, which have led to the death of over 3000 (three thousand) citizens of the country alone. According to statistics, a larger percentage of terrorists that have been apprehended in the United States over the years are immigrant green card holders. Terrorism is one of the various reason by which people violate their green card terms as it is compulsory for them to stay away from anything that will cause violence in the country. Terrorism at most times does not attract deportation because the United States government believes terrorists are very dangerous to be deported as they can do anything to escape or end their own life.  Instead of getting deported, terrorists with a green card are always slammed with jail term thereby serving their time in the country.

Illegal possession or smuggling of firearms – firearms are deadly weapons that are capable of causing a lot of havoc within a short time. There are various types of firearms which include grenade launcher, guns amongst others. Their high rate of committing havocs in the United States is the reason why there are laws that state the types of firearm that can be owned and the ones that cannot be owned. Over 20000(two hundred thousand) deaths resulting from firearm attacks are recorded every year all over the country. Illegal firearms are circulated throughout the country through various means. The most common way by which illegal firearms are circulated is by smuggling. Smuggling an illegal firearm is a very great crime which goes against the firearms law of the United States. A lot of green card holders do violate their green cards by possessing illegal firearms or smuggling them. To avoid the possession of an illegal firearm as an immigrant green card holder, it is important to be enlightened about the types of firearms you can possess by your immigration lawyer because research has shown that many green card holders are ignorant when it comes to knowing the types of firearm they can and cannot own.

Immigrant smuggling – many green card holders in the United States use the opportunity of being a green card holder to smuggle illegal immigrants in the United States through various means. The most common type of immigrant smuggling is the act of harboring an illegal immigrant without reporting him or her to necessary authorities.  Smuggling an alien is one of the common ways by which green card holders do violate their green cards.
