ROH TELEVISION REPORT: TAVEN VERSUS SHELLEY AND MORE

We see Jay Lethal in Philadelphia vowing to become a three time Ring of Honor Champion as well as Matt Taven’s response about their match at Manhattan Mayhem. We then see Alex Shelley coming out to tell everyone that he is not retired and that he feels he should be entitled to a title match for his contributions to professional wrestling. He wants to show that he has talent on loan from God.

Your hosts are Ian Riccaboni and Quinn McKay.

They talk about Alex Shelley’s match against Matt Taven that will air tonight.

We go to footage from a six man tag match in Lowell, Massachusetts when Alex Shelley teamed with Jay Lethal and Jonathan Gresham against the Kingdom.

We see Shelley with a cross body to TK and Vinnie and then he spits some liquid in Taven’s face. Lethal with an enzuigiri to assist on a DDT and Flatliner. Vinnie tags in and he hits a suicide dive onto everyone. Taven goes for a plancha and he hits it. Taven kicks Lethal and Vinnie with a satellite side Russian leg sweep. Taven with a kick and Vinnie gets a near fall on Lethal. Shelley escapes Climax while Taven escapes Sliced Bread #2. Taven with a punch but Shelley with an enzuigiri. Taven with a super kick.

Shelley with a super kick to TK and Lethal with Lethal Injection to TK. Shelley with the Border City Stretch and TK taps out.

Taven and Shelley have a stare down as we go to commercial.

We are back and Quinn is in the back with Alex Shelley. Alex is asked about his return to Ring of Honor and the match in Toronto. Alex says he wants to look forward. He sees a champion that is good but he does not represent the Ring of Honor he helped create 15 years ago. He says he has nothing to lose and that is when you are most dangerous.

We take a look at issues between Angelina Love and Tasha Steelz.

Tasha says she has beaten Angelina Love two times. She says she feels so good.

We see Angelina getting some revenge on Tasha with some assistance from Velvet Sky.

Kelly Klein is interviewed and she says that Tasha has shown that she will not back down and that is the type of person she wants to face.

Tasha says she will prove the underdogs come out on top. She vows to become the Women of Honor champion.

Kelly tells Tasha that she will see her in Toronto.

Ian and Quinn talk about Tasha Steelz’ match against Kelly Klein at Summer Supercard. Ian mentions the other women in the division.

We go to highlights from the match between Tasha Steelz and Kelly Klein from Summer Supercard.

Tasha with a suicide dive. They return to the ring and Klein with a front DDT and fallaway slam. Steelz blocks a suplex. Klein with a forearm and Steelz lands on her feet and hits a cutter. Steelz misses a bicycle kick and Klein with a Death Valley Driver for the three count.

After the match, Angelina Love attacks Klein and Steelz. Angelina with a bicycle kick to Steelz and then to Klein. Angelina stands over Klein holding the title belt.

Quinn is in the back with Angelina Love but Kelly Klein attacks before Angelina can be asked a full question.

We go to commercial.

We are back with Lifeblood and Mark Haskins tells Marty Scurll he should have seen it coming because he has known him for years. You have interfered with his path and you told Flip Gordon to join them and then turn on them. This is when they are their most relentless. Tracy Williams says that you ran away from us when they had the chance after losing in the street fight. They want their title match. Bandido says that Lifeblood is the future of Ring of Honor.

Ian and Quinn talk about the shows this weekend from Atlanta and Nashville. They mention the Six Man Tag Title Match as well as a Defy and Deny match with Matt Taven. They mention Marty Scurll versus Bandido and the Champions versus All Stars match in Atlanta.

We take a look at highlights from the Ring of Honor TV Title Match between Tracy Williams and Shane Taylor from Toronto.

Flip Gordon attacks Tracy with a kendo stick as Tracy enters the ring.

Tracy Williams tells Flip he has to do a lot more than that to send him home. Hitting him in the shoulder a few times is not going to stop him from fighting. Tracy tells Shane to come out for their match.

Taylor with a leg drop to the arm on the apron but Williams hits a frog splash for a near fall. Taylor misses a splash from the turnbuckles and Williams with a crossface. Taylor fights to get to the ropes and he gets his foot on the ropes. Taylor hits Greetings from 216 for the three count.

Shane says that it is only fitting that after he defended the TV title for the third time in devastating fashion, the first words said to him weren’t congratulations, but why did you do that to Tracy Williams. Shane says he promised to Tracy what he would do to defend the title. Tracy is a grown man and he knew what he was getting into. Ring of Honor does not want to promote him while they promote everyone else on ROH shows. Maybe he will start his own company to promote himself.

We go to commercial.

We are back and we are told that they wanted to show Ladder War, but due to the violence, they cannot show the full match between Guerrilas of Destiny and the Briscoes in Toronto.

Jay tries to hit Tonga Loa with a chair but he misses. A table is set up on the floor and Loa slams Mark on the floor. Tama sends Jay face first into a chair in the turnbuckles. Jay and Tama grab chairs and both swing and Tama loses his chair. Tama with a German suplex but Jay with a clothesline. Mark stands next to a ladder and he starts to climb to get the title belts. Tama comes off a ladder hanging on the ropes and hits Gun Stun. Jay and Tama fight on top of the ladder. Jay with head butts and Tama falls off the ladder. Jay grabs the titles to win the match.

We go to commercial.

We are back and next week, we will see Jay Lethal and Jonathan Gresham versus Bandido and Mark Haskins as well as the start of the Top Prospect Tournament with highlights between Dante Caballero and Joe Keys.

Match Number One: Alex Shelley versus Matt Taven for the Ring of Honor World Championship

They lock up and Shelley with a wrist lock. Taven with a reversal. Shelley with a drop toe hold into a front face lock but Taven with a reversal. Shelley with a side head lock. Taven with a head scissors. Shelley escapes and blows a snot rocket at Taven. Taven slaps Shelley. They lock up and Shelley with a hammer lock and arm drag. Shelley with an arm drag and he gets a near fall with a rollup.

They lock up and Shelley with a wrist lock take down and a rollup for a near fall. Shelley does some jumping jacks during a break in the action. They lock up and Shelley with a take down and Shelley with a rollup for a near fall. Shelley does a few push ups. Taven with a thumb to the eyes and he goes for Climax but Shelley escapes. Shelley escapes again and goes for the Border City Stretch but Taven gets to the ropes. Taven with a springboard arm drag but Shelley gets a near fall with a rolup.

We go to commercial.

We are back and Shelley goes for Sliced Bread #2 off the ring post but Taven counters and sends Shelleythrough a table. Taven returns to the ring and he wants the referee to start his count. Shelley gets back into the ring at nineteen and Taven kicks Shelley. Taven with chops in the corner. Shelley with a back elbow and he goes for a cross body but Taven catches Shelley and hits a uranage back breaker for a near fall. Taven chokes Shelley in the ropes. Taven with a suplex and he gets a near fall.

Taven with a bow and arrow. Taven with a back breaker and a butterfly back breaker for a near fall. Taven with a Boston Crab. Shelley with chops followed by a reverse atomic drop. Taven with a side Russian leg sweep and swinging neck breaker for a near fall.

Taven tries to suplex Shelley to the floor but Shelley blocks Taven and hits an enzuigiri. Shelley with a slingshot DDT onto the floor. Taven throws something in Shelley’s face and Taven with a forearm. Shelley with a flatliner into the guardrails. Shelley with a Shiranui onto the guardrail. Taven with an enzuigiri and a plancha over the guardrails onto Shelley. Taven sends Shelley into the ringside area and then Taven goes up top. Taven with a frog splash but Shelley gets a rollup for a near fall. Shelley gets another near fall. Shelley sets for a super kick and hits it. Taven shows Shelley what he thought of the move and Shelley hits a second one and goes for Sliced Bread #2 and hits it but Taven kicks out. Shelley with the Border City Stretch but Taven with a rollup for a near fall. Taven with a knee to the head.

Taven goes for Climax but Shelley counters into a rollup for a near fall. Taven with Climax for a near fall and Shelley with a rollup. Taven with a knee and Climax for the three count.

Winner: Matt Taven (Retains Championship)
