BETTING COMPANIES - SPONSORSHIP PREMIER LEAGUE KITS

By Kendall Jenkins on 2019-06-20 09:03:00

The link between online gambling operators and sports teams is getting stronger every year. Football is the most popular sport worldwide and the obvious choice for many bookmakers willing to sign sponsorship deals. European football leagues are the strongest in the world and the Premier League currently sits at the top of the list. Not surprisingly, bookies are always happy to have their logos displayed on the shirts of English teams. In recent years the number of Premier League teams proudly displaying a betting company as the main sponsor has increased and the trend is likely to continue.

Gambling Shirt Sponsors Mushroom in the EPL

Twenty football teams compete at the highest level of British football and nearly half of them are sponsored by betting companies. They receive significant amounts from the sponsors and in exchange, they provide them with the exposure they need so much. These companies have tried to sign similar agreements with the top Premier League teams, but so far, they were unable to do so. The football clubs who win most of the domestic titles and reach the final stages of European tournaments are sponsored by banks, airlines and other large corporations.

Meanwhile, some of the best sites for gambling such as Mansion88 and LaBa360 have enhanced their exposure in Britain by shaking hands with Bournemouth and Burnley. Since these teams have joined the Premier League, they have caught the eye of betting companies. Crystal Palace and Fulham are two other teams who display the logos of ManBetX and Dafabet on their shirts. The Londoners are likely to retain their sponsors even if they are relegated, but the terms of the contracts are likely to change.

SportPesa’s logo can be seen on the Everton shirts, while OPE was happy to associating its name to Huddersfield, one of the newest EPL teams. Newcastle United and West Ham United have shifted between the first and second divisions, but they remain just as attractive for bookmakers. Fun88 and Betway are their sponsors and the betting companies are happy to work with teams that have a massive fan base. Wolverhampton don’t exactly fall into this category, but they still enjoy a mutually lucrative partnership with W88. They are the main sponsor of the team and have the logo displayed on their shirts.

Championship Teams are the Gateway to Fame

The Premier League is the place to be for bookmakers who want to become more visible. Unfortunately for them, there are only 20 teams playing in the top division and most are happy with their current sponsors. This means that betting companies need to consider Championship teams as a springboard to better exposure in the United Kingdom.

The sheer quality of this league and the incredible attendance for a second-tier division also explains the bookies’ interest for the teams playing here. Aston Villa, Blackburn, Birmingham, Brentford, Bristol City, Bolton, Derby County, Ipswich, Hull, Leeds United, Middlesbrough, Norwich, Nottingham Forest, Preston, QPR, Stoke and Swansea are sponsored by betting companies.
