THE WILD CARD RULE, BARON STROWMAN, BATISTA IN THE MOVIES AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2019-06-07 09:57:00

When Braun Strowman debuted in 2015 as the "black sheep" of the Wyatt Family people were clamoring for Baron Corbin to make his main roster debut and put him in his place. I heard all kinds of positive things about Baron Corbin when he was in NXT. Ever since he came up to the main roster I can't...I just don't see what everyone was so excited about. I can't even stand looking at the guy, never mind listening to him cut a promo or watching him wrestle. Is this just another case of Vince mishandling one of Hunter's guys, or did it turn out that he's really not what people thought he was? Or did I just set my expectations too high?

I have to admit, I don't recall any of this clamor you are referring to.  I think Baron Corbin has turned into exactly what Vince McMahon wanted him to be, but that was the problem.  What Vince wants is often far from the pulse of the audience.

Mike, at the very least, I think it’s fair to say the Wild Card Rule has changed a bit. The “4 superstars” limit seems to have been forgotten (no surprise...). By my count, 15 RAW stars appeared on the June 4 episode of Smackdown, plus a few 205 Live guys, and free agents like Goldberg and Undertaker. There were fewer Smackdown stars on the show than talent from other shows.   What gives?

WWE Creative.

About the Bully Ray incident with the fan, why was the fan brought backstage in the first place?  Maybe this is a bit harsh, but if the fan is being disruptive, shouldn't security handle it?  Bringing him backstage led to a he said/he said situation and the bad publicity

That is the million dollar question.  To me, the second the fan was brought backstage, ROH was in the wrong because now you have brought him into a secluded area away from the rest of the audience and no matter what happened, they empowered the fan to go speak out without anyone who can say that his claims were wrong except people who worked for the company.  Honestly, the fan should have been thrown out and that would have been the end of the matter.  The fan still may have voiced his anger online, but at the end of the day, ROH could say he crossed the line and was tossed and no one would have blinked an eye.  They sent the fan back to his seat.  By doing so, one has to ask why he was allowed to stay if what he did was so bad Bully had words with him to begin with?   The fan should have just been tossed.

Would the WWE use the wild card rule and let Asuka beat Becky Lynch for the Raw women title

Anything is possible, but I don't see that happening right now.

Why is Batista starring in so many movies?  I don't get the appeal.

He's retired from wrestling and needs to make money.  Seriously, lots of people enjoy him as an actor.  He's very funny and can play unique roles poking fun at himself.  He's great at what he does.
