FIVE CELEBRITIES THAT LOVE BINGO

By Kendall Jenkins on 2019-05-28 14:05:00

The pastime of bingo has descended down from generation to generation, so it shouldn’t come as much of a surprise that celebrities love the game as much as ordinary people. The game has its origins from the 1500s in Italy, but since then it has evolved and passed the test of time.

Nowadays it is at its most accessible point ever with online bingo companies like Mecca and Tombola being just a few of the best new bingo sites which are available to people that love the game. The new era of online bingo has introduced the game to a broader audience, and also helped sustain the players that have been passionate about it for centuries. But who are the celebrities that love bingo as much as everyone else in world?

Cristiano Ronaldo

One of the biggest sporting stars on the planet is apparently a keen bingo fan, and who knows, maybe the game has helped him achieve the trophy haul that he has. When he moved from Sporting Lisbon to Manchester United in the summer of 2003, the task of learning English could have been a daunting prospect for the then 18-year-old. However, the first Christmas that he was at the club for, he was given a DVD version of the game to help learn the language.

His English quickly improved, and so did his performance on the pitch. Ronaldo ended that season by lifting the FA Cup in his first season with the club, and admitted to the Portuguese press that he had fallen in love with bingo and that the game was “very exciting.”

Russell Crowe

Long before his acting roles in Gladiator and Les Miserables, Crowe had a much different job in his native land of New Zealand. Back in his native land at the age of 22, he was a bingo caller at a local hall. He was fired from the job after making up too many rude innuendos for the ball numbers. However, his love for the game has never wavered.

People who attend halls in New Zealand and the USA have also claimed to see the 55-year-old in attendance. The versatile entertainment personality is an excellent example of the game staying with you throughout your life, and it has been reported that he has ensured that his wife is also a dedicated bingo enthusiast too.

Kate Moss

Who would have thought that the rock ‘n’ roll lifestyle of a glamour model life Kate Moss could include regular games of bingo? Well, it does. Following her marriage, and then divorce from Jamie Hince, Moss swapped the late-night partying for time playing bingo with close friend, Sadie Frost. The main reason for the change was down to her newfound family commitments, but even when her children have grown older, she has still stayed with the bingo.

It is reported now that on Saturday evenings, her and Frost have weekly family bingo evenings with all of their children in attendance for the event. The transformed life and the path that Moss leads makes her an inspiration for all aspiring models, and her love for bingo ensures that she keeps the right work to home life balance that is needed. Maybe we could see more models following in her footsteps, and becoming obsessed about the pastime in the future?

Robbie Williams

The former Take That star is a keen bingo enthusiast and frequently attends events to play the game whether he is in Hollywood or the UK, mostly for charity nowadays. His love of the game is inspiring, and like Moss, he commonly has people around his house to play the game. Williams very rarely appears at bingo events alone either. Dita Von Tease joined him for a charity event in Hollywood, and the singer would have been thrilled when he won a leopard-print handbag for shouting ‘bingo!’

He isn’t the only band member from Take That to love the game either, as Mark Owen, Gary Barlow, and Howard Donald all joined Williams in playing bingo while they were on tour in 2015. Barlow even incorporated the game into his tenth wedding anniversary celebrations with Alesha Dixon and Ronan Keating joining the Take That boys for a game.

Prince William

Just like bingo, the Royal Family is one of the few remaining British institutions. Prince William has been a lover of the game since spending his spare hours during his time at the Sandhurst Military Academy at the local bingo hall. It was also reported in the British press that he used a fake name to sign up for the hall and pay £5 for a book. However, unfortunately, there were no stories that he was successful in the game on that occasion.
