BEST SLOT GAMES FOR 2019

By Kendall Jenkins on 2019-05-11 09:34:00

Did you know the first slot machines were invented back in 1895? A Bavarian-born inventor called Charles August Fey created the first modern slot machine and installed it in a local saloon. Fey was able to quit his job from the profits it made and move into mass production. It’s not an understatement to say that Fey is one of the founding fathers of modern gambling as we know it.

Of course, in modern times, everything has moved to the internet. Online slots games combine the excitement of traditional lever-based slot machines with the immediacy and presentation of the digital world. So which slots preserve the legacy of Charles August Fey? Which online gaming platforms are the best ones to opt for?

Many of the slots on this list are available on multiple platforms, and you might struggle to find somewhere truly reliable and reputable to play them. If you’re struggling for ways to access these slots, click here to find out the best places to get them. Remember: don’t let yourself be stung by less than the best when it comes to online slots. Without further ado, here are the best slot games you can play in 2019.

Dead or Alive II

Howdy, pardner. Draw up a stool and pour yourself a glass of whisky. We’re about to take a trip out into the Old West. Honour the legacy of Charles August Fey with the Western-themed Dead or Alive II. This slot has an impressive RTP (return to player) rate of 96.8%, so you can expect to win back a huge percentage of what you put down over time. The visual theme for Dead or Alive II is delightful - all dusty saloons, sheriff badges, and old six-shooter revolvers - and the soundtrack is surprisingly immersive, placing players in the shoes of an old cowboy as he plays the slots for a little extra drinkin’ money. The free spin features have great names like Train Heist and High Noon Saloon, and the coin win multipliers run up to 100,000x your bet, keeping things consistently exciting. All in all, Dead or Alive II is a fantastic slot game.

Cleopatra

Brought to us by IGT, Cleopatra has 5 reels and 20 winning paylines for players to look forward to. Unlike DoAII, Cleopatra packs its players onto a dusty dhow and sends them deep into the heart of Egypt via the legendary Nile river. The symbols are all themed appropriately - sphinxes, hieroglyph-style letters, and Eyes of Horus - but it’s all about the gameplay with this one. Cleopatra boasts an RTP rate of 95.02%, which might not quite be up there with the greatest of them but still isn’t to be sniffed at. Bonus rounds consist of 15 free spins and are triggered by getting 3 sphinxes. Since this is a free spin slot, there’s a huge amount of potential to win big here. 5 sphinxes will net you 100 times your initial bet, allowing you to truly win some serious coins. The sequel slot, Cleopatra II, is also pretty good - the two are largely identical, so it all comes down to which you prefer visually.

Zuma Slots

Hey, remember Zuma? This game was created by the guys over at Oberon Media, who worked closely with PopCap Games to create it. Zuma Slots is, believe it or not, based largely on that game. PopCap is well known for its incredible presentation, and Zuma Slots - despite not actually being a PopCap title - is no exception. This game is visually arresting and gorgeous to look at, and the sound effects will charm even the most cynical person. Perhaps most interesting and unique to Zuma Slots is the Autoplay option. If you’re feeling particularly hands-off, you can simply set the game to play itself for 50 spins. Granted, a lot of people get their kicks in slots by actually “pulling the lever” themselves, but an autoplay option might be appreciated by those who like to sit back and relax with their slots. 20 paylines on a 5-slot reel for this one.

Mega Pyramid

As if Zuma and Cleopatra weren’t enough, here’s Mega Pyramid, another excellent online slot game based in Ancient Egypt. It’s almost as if this theme holds some special significance for slot software developers, eh? Mega Pyramid was created by famed gambling software studio Red Tiger and has a Return to Player rate of 96.18%, putting it only slightly below Cleopatra. This game is strongly reminiscent of the slot classic Book of Ra, as well as Book of Dead. The action is sleek and stylish, with beautiful animation and a moody Egyptian theme. The bet potential here is tremendous: it’s possible to win up to a staggering 5000x your bet. The free spins game can be a tad tricky to trigger, but once you do, the sense of reward will be immense. Mega Pyramid is well worth checking out and does more than its fair share of work not to be considered another Book clone.

Double Bubble Slots

Counter-intuitively, Double Bubble Slots doesn’t have a whole lot to do with the video game Bubble Bobble, although it feels as though it should. This slot machine can pay out up to a ridiculous 30,000x your original coin bet. Visually, Double Bubble has a far more bubblegum feel to it than the previous games on this list. The pastel colours and gentle fruit theme stand out against an increasingly “dark” industry, so if you’re into that sort of thing, this is definitely where you need to come. RTP here varies from 95.75% to 96.24%, which is a pretty solid margin but doesn’t quite reach the dizzying heights of Dead or Alive II. As usual, this is a 5-reel 20-line machine which can pay out a number of bonuses depending on symbols matched. Give it a spin and see if you like it - it’s definitely not quite in the same league as the others on this list, but it’s a hugely enjoyable slot game in its own right.
